Abstract: An electronic device may include a stereoscopic display that is configured to display three-dimensional content for a viewer. The stereoscopic display may include a lenticular lens film with lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display and may be referred to as a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have convex curvature. The lenticular display may include a color filter layer with color filters and an opaque masking layer. The color filter layer may be interposed between the lenticular lens film and an array of display pixels for the display. The color filter layer may mitigate ghost image artifacts and reflections of ambient light. Microlenses may be included between the lenticular lens film and the array of display pixels to improve the efficiency of the display. The display may include a Fresnel lens layer. The lenticular lens film may include lenticular lenses having different shapes.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The display may have a number of independently controllable viewing zones. Each viewing zone displays a respective two-dimensional image. Each eye of the viewer may receive a different one of the two-dimensional images, resulting in a perceived three-dimensional image. The electronic device may include display pipeline circuitry that generates and processes content to be displayed on the lenticular display. Content generating circuitry may generate content that includes a plurality of two-dimensional images, each two-dimensional image corresponding to a respective viewing zone. Pixel mapping circuitry may be used to map the two-dimensional images to the array of pixels in the lenticular display. The array of pixels may have a diagonal layout. An offset map may be used by the pixel mapping circuitry to account for the diagonal layout.

Abstract: A display may include light-emitting components such as light-emitting diodes on a transparent substrate. Conductive signal paths between the light-emitting components, driver integrated circuits for controlling the light-emitting components, and the light-emitting components themselves may be opaque. To mitigate diffraction artifacts caused by the opaque components, the opaque footprint of the display may be selected to include non-periodic portions. The non-periodic portions increase randomness and reduce periodicity within the opaque footprint, which mitigates perceptible diffraction artifacts when viewing the display. One or both of the component mounting portions and interconnect portions of the opaque footprint may be non-periodic. The component mounting portions may have random shapes. The interconnect portions may follow random paths between the component mounting portions.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a stereoscopic display with a plurality of lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. The display may have different viewing zones that account for horizontal parallax as a viewer moves horizontally relative to the display. The display may be dimmed globally based on the detected vertical position of the viewer. The magnitude of dimming applied to the display may increase with increasing deviation of the viewer from a baseline viewing angle. The display may render content that compensates for the real-time vertical position of the viewer. Another option for the stereoscopic display is to include a lens film that has an array of lenses. Each lens in the array of lenses spreads light in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction.
