Abstract: At least some embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for controlling a cylinder deactivation (CDA) operation for an electrified powertrain, the electrified powertrain comprising an engine and an additional power source, the engine having a plurality of cylinders. The method includes the step of operating the electrified powertrain in a CDA mode and deactivating one or more selected cylinders of the plurality of cylinders; receiving measurement data indicative of operating conditions of the electrified powertrain; analyzing the measurement data to determine whether a predetermined operating condition is met; and adjusting the CDA operation by adjusting the duration of the CDA operation or changing a number of deactivated cylinders.

Abstract: A system for selectively activating and deactivating cylinders includes a first cylinder positioned in a cylinder block. A first intake or exhaust valve is coupled to the first cylinder and is actuated by a first coupling mechanism. A first oil control solenoid is coupled to the first coupling mechanism, the first oil control solenoid deactivates the first coupling mechanism to maintain the first intake or exhaust valve in a closed position. A second cylinder is positioned in the cylinder block, and a second intake or exhaust valve is coupled to the second cylinder. The second intake or exhaust valve is actuated by a second coupling mechanism. A second oil control solenoid is coupled to the second coupling mechanism, the second oil control solenoid deactivates the second coupling mechanism to maintain the second intake or exhaust valve in a closed position. The first oil control solenoid and the second oil control solenoid have different operating parameters.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a control circuit. The control circuit is structured to interpret condition data indicative of an external operating condition of a vehicle, determine an operating parameter of the vehicle based on an actuator response of an actuator of the vehicle, compare the operating parameter to an operating parameter threshold where the operating parameter threshold is based on the external operating condition, and remap an actuator response map of the actuator based on the comparison indicating that the operating parameter does not satisfy the operating parameter threshold. The operating parameter includes at least one of a fuel economy value, an emissions value, an acceleration value, a braking value, or a wear value.

Abstract: A waste heat recovery (WHR) hybrid power system can be utilized in vehicles to convert heat energy into mechanical energy. The WHR system can include a WHR power unit structured to convert thermal energy into rotation of a WHR drive shaft. A motor/generator having a motor/generator shaft can selectively operate as a motor or a generator. A mechanical linkage can be structured to selectively link a output shaft to one of the WHR drive shaft and the motor/generator drive shaft independently of the other of the WHR drive shaft and the motor/generator drive shaft.
