摘要: A hatch cover for deployment over a hatchway formed in a floating roof liquid storage tank permits rapid loading and unloading of inspection or maintenance equipment and minimizes vapor emissions from the tank. The portable hatch cover has two base plates movably connected at a hinge and each defining complementary recesses. A circular flange extends from the bottom surfaces of the base plates to seat the hatch cover in the hatchway. Two door panels are movably connected at hinges to the top surfaces of the base plates. When one or both of the door panels are opened, equipment may be loaded into the tank through the complementary recesses. When closed, the door panels cover the recesses in the base plates. Complementary notches in the door panels provide an opening through which equipment tubing or wiring may extend when the door panels are closed. A collar gasket optionally may be wrapped around the tubing or wiring as a further means to limit vapor emissions from the tank.

摘要: The invention provides a low density paperboard material and associated method for use in producing an insulated container, and is especially well-suited for making cups. The paperboard material comprises a paperboard web including wood fibers and expanded microspheres, and has a relatively low density ranging from about 6 to about 10 lb/3MSF/mil, a relatively high caliper ranging from about 24 to about 35 mil, and an internal bond strength of at least about 80×10−3 ft−lbf., preferably at least 100×10−3 lft−lbf. For applications such as cups the material is also coated on one or both sides with a barrier coating, preferably low density polyethylene, to limit liquid penetration into the web. The low density paperboard material of the invention is convertible for manufacture of containers, particularly cups, and exhibits insulative properties comparable to higher cost materials conventionally used to make cups. Also, the surface of the low density board may have a Sheffield smoothness of 300 SU or greater compared with the surface smoothness of 160 to 200 SU for conventional cupstock, the latter having been thought necessary for adequate print quality. However, it has been found that the low density board exhibits good printability on flexo printing machines despite its relatively rough surface, which is surprising and bonus effect realized along with the insulative and other properties of the board.

摘要: A light-transmission screen includes a diffusing element formed from a micro-lens array for projecting images in a viewing space. The screen generates images of improved quality by varying structural features of one or more lenses in the array so that light is directed in different directions and/or with different optical properties compared with other lenses in the array. The structural features which are varied include any one or more of size, shape, curvature, or spacing of the lenses in the array. As a result of these variations, the screen achieves wider viewing angles, improved screen resolution and gain, and a greater ability to reduce or eliminate aliasing or other artifacts in the generated images compared with conventional screens. A method for making a light-transmission screen of this type preferably forms the micro-lens array using a stamping operation based on a master. By taking this approach, the screen is manufactured with fewer process steps and at less cost compared with conventional methods.

摘要: A stabilized platform useable for various purposes to provide compensation for motion in two axes, such as pitch and roll on a ship. The system operates independently of the object to be stabilized and without the use of gyroscopes by using accelerometers, position sensors and a proportional drive controller augmented with estimation and filtering. The mechanical design reduces size, weight, and power requirements, by providing a system including a stabilized structure; a base structure for supporting the stabilized structure; an enclosure to protect the system from environment elements; first sensors for measuring angular displacements of the stabilized structure with respect to the base structure; and second sensors for measuring acceleration data and acceleration vector angles; and a processor for receiving the angular displacements of the stabilized structure with respect to the base structure from the first sensors and determining an angle of the base structure relative to the stabilized structure, for receiving the acceleration data and acceleration vector angles from the second sensors and determining a direction of local vertical relative to the base structure, and for maintaining the stabilized structure at a desired orientation utilizing the angle of the base structure relative to the stabilized structure and the direction of local vertical relative to the base structure.

摘要: The present invention provides a container for use in a closed application system for liquid or granular agricultural treatment agents. The agent is introduced into the container through an inlet opening on the upper surface of the container. Thereafter, a valve is removably mounted to seal the inlet opening and prevent inadvertant discharge of the liquid from the container. Hand grips are provided to manipulate the container, and the container is configured so that it nested or stacked on other similar containers having valves extending from the respective inlet openings when the containers are transported in an upright position. The handgrips are also employed to mount the containers in an inverted position in agricultural application equipment. Empty containers may be transported back to a supply station for refilling with the valves of the respective containers still mounted in the inlet openings to seal the openings and prevent inadvertant discharge or leakage of residue liquid or granular treatment agents still remaining in the containers. The reusable containers enable the agricultural treatment agents to be transported between a supply station and application equipment without any direct exposure to the user.

摘要: A vehicle is provided with a chassis having a footprint, a load carrying structure, and a support assembly coupling the chassis and the structure. The support assembly is adapted to move the structure relative to the chassis between a stowed position and a deployed position outboard of the footprint of the chassis. A plurality of wheels is configured to roll on the support surface and a plurality of axles coupling the wheels to the chassis are provided. Each axle includes at least one spindle supporting an individual wheel for rotation on a spindle axis. A steering system is adapted to position the wheels between driving and rotation arrangements with respect to the chassis such that in the rotating arrangement each of the plurality of wheels rotate relative to the chassis whereby the chassis, the platform and the support assembly may rotate in unison about the steer axis.
