摘要: A paperboard blank and cup made therefrom are provided. The blank includes a paperboard substrate having a first side and a second side. A first polymer layer can be disposed on at least a portion of the first side of the paperboard substrate, and a second polymer layer can be disposed on at least a portion of the second side of the paperboard substrate. Both the first and second polymer layers can include at least one polymer component that is thermoplastic. The second polymer layer further comprises at least one polymer component, which is not present in the first polymer layer, and has a glass transition temperature higher than all the polymer components of the first polymer layer.

摘要: The invention concerns a heat-sealable biodegradable packaging material, which comprises a fibrous substrate (1) and one or more polymer coating layers (2) extruded onto said substrate. According to the invention the packaging material includes at least one polymer coating layer (2) containing at least 70 weight-% of polylactide (PLA) and at least 5 weight-% of polybutylene succinate (PBS) or its derivate blended therewith. Optionally an acryl copolymer such as ethylene butyl acrylate glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer (EBAGMA) may be included in the polymer blend. The invention further concerns a heat-sealed container, such as a disposable drinking cup, and a heat-sealed product package made from the packaging material, as well as uses of PBS or its derivates as blends with PLA in extrusion coating, for improving adhesivity of the coating to the fibrous substrate and reduced raw edge penetration to the packaging material, especially penetration of hot coffee held in the drinking cup.

摘要: A paper, or cardboard, or card stock material is made from an organic material, such as ground-up sunflower seeds using an organic binder, such as a glue, which may have the form of a polysaccharide e.g., a long chain naturally occurring sugar. A water resistant, or water impermeable coating, such as a PLA coating, is applied to one or both sides of the card stock to form a laminate. The card stock may be formed into a shape or structure, such as a carton, or bowl, or cup, either prior to or after coating. The card stock material or the primary layer, the binder, and the plastic coating are all based on materials that are typically considered to be waste by-products of agricultural or food services processing, and they are all materials that may tend to be suitable for composting or biodegradation.

摘要: Provided is a resin composition for paper-coating comprising aliphatic polycarbonate having an average molecular weight of 30,000 to 300,000 obtained by reaction of one or at least two different kinds of epoxide compounds selected from a group consisting of (C2-C10)alkylene oxide substituted or unsubstituted with carbon dioxide, halogen, or alkoxy; (C4-C20)cycloalkylene oxide substituted or unsubstituted with halogen or alkoxy; and (C8-C20)styrene oxide substituted or unsubstituted with halogen, alkoxy, alkyl or aryl, wherein it contains 0 to 40 weight % of polyolefin-based resin such as polyethylene or polypropylene, based on the total amount of the composition. In addition, the present invention relates to a paper coating method of extrusion-coating the resin composition for paper-coating on paper at 130 to 250° C. to manufacture a coated paper.

摘要: Latent dispersants were made by the hydrogenation of an alkyl ketene dimer, alkenyl ketene dimer, or ketene multimer. Adding the latent dispersant to paper or paperboard increased its resistance to water and water vapor while maintaining recyclability and repulpability. Additionally, provided is a method for increasing the repulpability of a wax coated paper or paperboard. Dispersants made by the hydrolysis of the alkyl ketene dimer, alkenyl ketene dimer, and ketene multimer are also described.

摘要: A dye resin ink application process using flexographic printing, flood coating, tinting, or other suitable technique or process to add a color layer on top of a thermal ink layer of a material. The color layer provides a background color, such that upon application of the heat source, the thermal image appears as being imaged onto the background color. The process can be used to make heat-sensitive direct thermal labels or thermal paper rolls, including cash register-type rolls, poster printer format rolls, etc. The process permits thermal-inked material to be produced in various colors in relatively small print runs using conventional equipment.
