摘要: A method for determining fringing capacitances on passive devices within an integrated circuit is disclosed. A fringing capacitance region on a passive device is initially divided into a group of fringing electric field areas. A set of fringing capacitance equations is then developed for the fringing electric field areas accordingly. A determination is made as to whether or not an accuracy of the fringing capacitance equations meets a predetermined threshold. If the accuracy of the fringing capacitance equations meets the predetermined threshold, then the fringing capacitance equations are utilized in compact device models to determine fringing capacitance on the passive device. If the accuracy of the fringing capacitance equations does not meet the predetermined threshold, the physically-based fringing capacitance equations are fitted to a set of extracted data to generate a refined set of physically-based fringing capacitance equations, and the refined set of physically-based fringing capacitance equations is utilized in compact device models to determine fringing capacitance on the passive device.

摘要: A method for estimating a location of a wireless device in a wireless local network is provided. The method includes forming a first set comprised of the signal strength received from access points that the wireless device received a signal from and an indicator of no signal strength measured for access points that the wireless device did not receive a signal from. Next, a scan subset can be formed comprised of access points in the first set that has associated signal strength. Next, a cluster comprised of the calibration points can be formed based on the scan subset. A distance between the first set and each of the calibration point in the cluster can be calculated. Then, the smallest distance can be selected as the location estimate.

摘要: In a system 10 for designing an integrated circuit, a preliminary design of the integrated circuit is defined and critical interconnect lines in the preliminary design are identified. Further, any critical interconnect lines which are affected by crossing lines in the preliminary design are identified, and a transmission line model 35 is defined to represent each critical interconnect line. A layout design of the integrated circuit, comprising circuit components and parameters thereof, is then defined using the preliminary design and the transmission line model 35 for each critical interconnect line. Component parameters are then extracted from the layout design for simulation of the design using the extracted component parameters. During this design process, for each transmission line model 35 representing a critical interconnect line affected by a crossing line, an environment terminal 36 is provided. The environment terminal 36 comprises a connection to the model 35 via at least one circuit component representing the effect of the crossing line on the model. The environment terminal 36 is connected to the appropriate crossing line in the integrated circuit design, whereby crossing line effects are accommodated in the design process.

In a first mode of operation the module functions as an Infrared Data Association (IrDA) compatible communications interface. In a second mode of operation, IrDA communications is disabled, and the module functions as a barcode scanner. The module may be switched back and forth between the two modes of operation or operated simultaneously.

摘要: A multi-bit digitizer (30) for a barcode reader detects the presence of edges of a scanned barcode symbol, and also measures the strength of each detected edge. A polarity or edge direction signal (8) indicates the direction of each detected edge, and a timing signal (6) is representative of the timing and also, by means of a variable pulse width, the strength of each edge. A gating signal (200) indicates that the data are unreliable and invalid if the measured voltage applied to the scanner motor of the barcode reader is higher or lower than defined limit values. Any scans made at a speed which were too high or too low are rejected.

摘要: A portable terminal has a housing with a motion detector housed therein. Movement of the housing from a a rest position is detected by sensing the motion of a coil or magnet located within the housing. A controller activates circuitry within the housing responsive to the detected movement. The terminal may include a touch sensitive display, on a flat front surface of the housing. A light emitter and an optical detector may also be disposed within the housing. Preferably, the terminal also houses a sensor for sensing different specific positional orientations of the terminal and activating or deactivating terminal functions depending on the sensed orientation.

摘要: A system for scanning a symbol that has a plurality of modes including a learning mode and an adaptive mode. When the scanner is in a learning mode, a plurality of scans are generated using a plurality of sets of operating parameters. A decoder decodes the plurality of scans generated by the scanner. A data collector collects readability data indicating whether the generated scan decodes successfully or unsuccessfully for each of the sets of operating parameters. A processor determines whether the readability data is acceptable for each of the sets of operating parameters. An optimal set of operating parameters is selected from the acceptable sets of operating parameters. The optimal set of operating parameters is stored along with data identifying the symbol so that the optimal set of operating parameters may be recalled for use in scanning symbols of a similar type or in a similar environment.
