Abstract: An electric machine rotor assembly includes a rotor core defining a rotor axis. Windings are seated in the rotor core. A plurality of wedges circumferentially spaced apart around the rotor core relative to the rotor axis. Each rotor core extends axially and separates between two respective portions of the windings. A supply end plate is mounted at a first axial end of the rotor core. A return end plate is mounted at a second axial end of the rotor core opposite the first axial end. A flow path for coolant fluid extends through the supply end plate into the wedges, through the wedges and into the return end plate, and through the return end plate.

Abstract: A port plate for use in an integrated drive generator has a body defining a semi-cylindrical charge port communicating with two circumferentially smaller charge port portions. A diametrically opposed working pressure port has three smaller working pressure ports. A center plane is defined extending through a center axis of a bore within the body and equidistance between circumferential ends of the charge port and the working fluid port. A first angle is defined between the plane and a circumferential end of the smaller charge port. The first angle is between 15 and 25 degrees. An integrated drive generator and a method are also disclosed.

An outer diameter of the cam liner defines a second distance. A ratio of the first distance to the second distance is between 0.90 and 1.00. Abstract: A compounding drive includes an input member, an epicyclical gear arrangement connected to the input member, an output member connected to the epicyclical gear arrangement, and a hydraulic pump/motor set. The hydraulic pump/motor set connects the epicyclical gear arrangement to the output member through an overrunning clutch for unidirectional communication of mechanical rotation between the input member and the output member. Engine arrangements, aircraft, and methods of compounding internal combustion engines are also described.

Abstract: A governor and inversion pump drive gear for an integrated drive generator has a gear body extending from a first end to a second end. There is an enlarged disc between the first and second ends. A boss extends from the enlarged disc toward the second end and has an internal bore with spline teeth. The enlarged disc has input gear teeth at an outer periphery. A shaft portion extends from the disc to the first end. A flange is formed at a location intermediate the first end and the enlarged disc. The inner gear teeth and the drive gear teeth have unique tooth profiles. An integrated dive generator and a method are also disclosed.

Abstract: A valve assembly for a variable frequency generator includes an input shaft extending about a longitudinal axis and having a bore defined therein. Also included is a disconnect shaft extending about the longitudinal axis and disposed in abutment with the input shaft. Further included is an oil restrictor disposed with the bore of the input shaft. Yet further included is a vent valve disposed within the bore and in abutment with the oil restrictor, the vent valve comprising an angled wall, the angled wall partially defining an annulus. Also included is a plurality of ball bearings disposed within the annulus, the plurality of ball bearings sliding radially outwardly away from the longitudinal axis during rotational operation of the input shaft to apply a force on the angled wall of the vent valve to bias the vent valve axially into a sealed condition.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to piece-part, sub-assembly, assembly, and component levels of a differential composed of a sun gear configuration and utilized in an integrated drive generator. An integrated drive generator is a hydro-mechanical transmission that drives a synchronous salient pole generator. The integrated drive generator is a constant speed output, variable speed input transmission that includes the differential and a hydraulic unit. In general, the integrated drive generator utilizes the variable speed input from an accessory gear box of an engine to drive or control a hydraulic unit, which in turn drives or controls a churn leg member of the differential. As the differential is driven, speeds of each speed member of the differential are then summed to generate the constant speed output to drive the synchronous salient pole generator.
