Abstract: An engine system can include an engine having an engine shaft and a transmission that can include an input shaft connected to the engine shaft to rotate with the engine shaft, one or more rotating gears configured to rotate relative to the input shaft, and a synchromesh configured to selectively engage each of the one or more rotating gears to the input shaft. Transmission can include a second shaft comprising a clutch configured to selectively engage the one or more rotating gears to the second shaft to cause the second shaft to rotate with the one or more rotating gears.

Abstract: A disconnect mechanism comprises an input shaft defining a drive axis, a disconnect shaft selectively engaged with the input shaft to be driven about the drive axis by the input shaft, and a disconnect ramp operatively connected to the disconnect shaft to axially move the disconnect shaft between at least a first axial position and a second axial position. A disconnect pawl is selectively engaged with the disconnect ramp shaft, and a brake is selectively engaged with the disconnect shaft in the second axial position.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to piece-part, sub-assembly, assembly, and component levels of a differential composed of a sun gear configuration and utilized in an integrated drive generator. An integrated drive generator is a hydro-mechanical transmission that drives a synchronous salient pole generator. The integrated drive generator is a constant speed output, variable speed input transmission that includes the differential and a hydraulic unit. In general, the integrated drive generator utilizes the variable speed input from an accessory gear box of an engine to drive or control a hydraulic unit, which in turn drives or controls a churn leg member of the differential. As the differential is driven, speeds of each speed member of the differential are then summed to generate the constant speed output to drive the synchronous salient pole generator.

Abstract: An engine system includes a turbine engine having a high pressure spool and a low pressure spool. A transmission includes an input shaft connected to one of the high pressure spool and the low pressure spool, and an output shaft. A clutch is arranged between the input shaft and the output shaft. A generator is connected to the output shaft. A clutch controller activates the clutch when one of the high pressure spool and the low pressure spool, and the generator are operating at a selected speed range.

Abstract: A generator arrangement includes a housing with a mounting feature, a main generator with an outboard shaft arranged within the housing and axially offset from the mounting feature along a rotation axis, and a permanent magnet generator. The permanent magnet generator has an inboard shaft arranged within the housing between the main generator and the mounting feature. The outboard shaft is coupled to the inboard shaft to provide rotation to the main generator through the permanent magnet generator. Accessory gearboxes and methods of generating electrical power are also described.

Abstract: A turbomachine dual spool transmission system can include a direct drive assembly configured to selectively allow bypassing of a dual spool differential combination output to allow selective direct engagement of a low pressure spool to directly drive a rotational member or to be directly driven by the rotational member. The system can include the dual spool differential. The dual spool differential can include a gear assembly configured to combine a low pressure spool input and a high pressure spool input into a combination output to provide an output speed range smaller than a low pressure speed range alone.
