All the terminals in the same segment reserve the timing information in timing reservation management tables respectively, as the timing of transmitting a frame from other terminal, and prohibit the transmission of frames from their own terminals. In addition to that, each terminal reserves the timing of transmitting a next frame from its own terminal in a timing reservation management table, and when the timing comes, it transmits a next frame onto the transmission line.

By allocating an identical virtual network identifier to a plurality of user networks connected to the carrier network, a single virtual network is constituted. An ingress communication node connected to a first user network of the plurality of user networks attaches a tag including the virtual network identifier to a control frame transmitted from the first user network, and transmits the control frame attached with the tag to a transmission destination determined on the basis of the virtual network identifier. An egress communication node connected to a second user network of the plurality of user networks receives the control frame attached with the tag, which is to be transmitted to the second user network, removes the tag from the control frame attached with the tag, and transmits the control frame to the second user network.

A microwave oven includes a heating chamber, a turntable provided in the oven, a magnetron, a waveguide for guiding the microwave generated by the magnetron into the heating chamber, an electric field sensor provided at the inner wall face of the waveguide or the heating chamber, a metal reflector provided rotatably inside the waveguide for adjusting the impedance of a load at the heating chamber side by its rotation angle, and a circuit responsive to an output of the electric field sensor for controlling the rotation angle of the metal reflector. The control circuit includes a first program for controlling the rotation angle of the metal reflector according to a first method within a predetermined time period from the start of operation of the microwave oven, and a second program for controlling the rotation angle of the metal reflector according to a second method different from the first method after elapse of the predetermined time period. For example, in the first method, the rotation angle of the metal reflector is sequentially controlled so that the output of the electric field sensor is minimum, and in the second method, the rotation angle of the metal reflector is fixed to an average value of the rotation angle of the metal reflector of the first method. The initial rotation angle of the metal reflector is determined so that impedance matching can be obtained when load of approximately 300-500 cc calculated in water load is placed at the center of the heating chamber.

When the wire electrode is broken, the wire processing unit is rotated from the escape position to the wire insertion position by a motor, and thereafter, the nozzle hole forming portion is closed, thereby holding the wire electrode guided through the slit during a rotating operation in the nozzle hole. Apparatus for detecting the number of objects such as persons in which at least one ultrasonic wave signal transmitter-receiver is used to transmit ultrasonic wave signals toward objects the number of which is to be detected, and to process waves reflected therefrom, thus determining the number of such objects existing within a predetermined area. When plural ultrasonic wave transmitter-receivers are used, they are so arranged that their detection regions are partly overlapped, thereby assuring uniform detection sensitivity over the area. A detection time is reduced by simultaneously driving the ultrasonic wave signal transmitter-receivers. The ultrasonic wave transmitter and receiver of each transmitter-receiver may be directed to different points in a target plane within a range permitting the receiver to receive reflected ultrasonic wave signals, thereby equalizing the detection sensitivity in the direction of the difference, thus improving the detection accuracy. Only one ultrasonic wave signal transmitter-receiver may be used for attaining the same effect, which is provided with one transmitter and plural receivers, or with one receiver and plural transmitters, the one transmitter or receiver and the plural receivers or transmitters being directed to respective different points in a target plane within a range permitting the receiver or receivers to receive reflected ultrasonic wave signals.

An elevator control apparatus is provided with means for detecting a new type of elevator car traffic information consisting of the information indicating, by allotting the passengers in the car to resistered cage calls, how many passengers classified for each of destination floors are in the car, namely, the information indicating the number of in-cage passengers classified for each of destination floors. In an apparatus comprising means for allotting a hall call generated to an optimum one of a plurality of cars and means for detecting the number of prospective passengers waiting on the floors, the number of prospective passengers waiting at the floor the hall call from which is allotted to the car and the number of passengers classified for each of destination floors are added to or subtracted from the number of passengers in the car for each floor involved thereby to forecast the number of in-cage passengers in the leading floors. It is decided whether there is room available or not in the car for accomodating additional passengers at the leading floors, by comparing the forecast number of passengers in the car with a predetermined number limit of the passengers for the car. By the use of the result of this decision, the hall call is prevented from being allotted to a car having no room for accomodating additional passengers.

Elevator cars for servicing a plurality of floors are under the control of register means provided at elevator halls to registrate the hall calls for the up- and down-directions. Detector means are installed at the elevator halls to detect the number of the passengers awaiting the cars at the halls. Discriminator means are employed to obtain the information concerning the number of the car awaiting passengers classified for each of the directions of their destinations. The information thus obtained is utilized in the elevator control apparatus to operate the elevator system with a high working efficiency. When the hall calls for one direction are registrated, the detected number of the car awaiting passengers is regarded as the number of the awaiting passengers for the hall calls of the above one direction. When the hall calls for the two directions are registrated, the detected number of the car awaiting passengers are divided into two classes, one for one direction and the other class for other direction on the basis of an appropriate dividing ratio, to thereby detect the number of the awaiting passengers for each of the directions of their destinations. This information about the number of the passengers for each of the directions is utilized in the elevator control operation for allotting the registrated hall calls to the cars. Adder devices are provided for adding together the number of the car awaiting passengers relevant to the allotted hall calls and the number of the passengers in the car to estimate the number of the passengers to be transported by the car. The information of the estimated number of the passenger is utilized for predicting the possible occurrence of the car-full condition. The allotment of the hall calls to the car for which the no-vacancy condition is predicted is restricted.
