Abstract:
Optical disks compliant with different standards are recorded or reproduced by a single recording/reproducing apparatus by a first step of determining a substrate thickness of the disk based on a focusing error signal, when a focusing section for bringing the light beam into a focus on the disk is moved in such a way as to approach or withdraw from the recording surface of the disk; a second step of performing any one step of determining the number of recording surfaces of the disk when the focusing section is moved in such a way as to approach or withdraw from the recording surface of the disk, and determining whether or not the disk can be recorded and reproduced using a tracking error signal detected when the light beam crosses the track.

The heat type air conditioning system (A) comprises a first unit (10) including a heater core (11) through which an engine coolant of an engine flows, and a first heat exchanger (12) which forms part of a refrigeration cycle including a compressor (1) and a first condenser (3), in which a refrigerant circulates in the refrigeration cycle. A second unit (20) is provided including a second condenser (21) and a second heat exchanger (22) which are fluidly connected in parallel with the first heat exchanger (12). A valve (V2) is fluidly connected in series with the second condenser (21) and disposed such that a part of the refrigerant is introduced through the valve into the second condenser (21) and the second heat exchanger (22). A sub-heat exchanger (30) is disposed outside the first and second units and fluidly connected in series with the second heat exchanger (22), in which the refrigerant flowing from the second heat exchanger (22) is introduced into the sub-heat exchanger to be heated by a part of the engine coolant, the refrigerant discharged from the sub-heat exchanger being returned to the compressor. An electromagnetic clutch (40) is provided such that the compressor (1) is drivably connectable with the engine therethrough. The electromagnetic clutch is engaged to establish a driving connection between the compressor so as to operate the compressor and disengaged to cut the driving connection so as to make the compressor inoperative. A control device (C) is operatively connected to the electromagnetic clutch (40) for controlling the electromagnetic clutch to be disengageable in accordance with a temperature within the air conditioning system (A).
Abstract:
An apparatus for diagnosing a fault in a dynamic system includes a controller which controls the dynamic system through use of a control input signal and vibrates the dynamic system through use of an vibration signal irrelevant to the internal state quantity of the dynamic system; an observer for estimating, on the basis of a response output from the vibration dynamic system, total disturbance which is a sum of an internal disturbance vector stemming from a fault in the dynamic system and a vibration disturbance vector occurring in the dynamic system through vibration; a correlation calculation unit which calculates cross-correlation between the thus-estimated total disturbance and the internal state quantity of the dynamic system and separates a component related to the internal disturbance from the total disturbance; and a diagnostic unit for diagnosing a fault in the dynamic system on the basis of the thus-separated component related to the internal disturbance. Since the dynamic system is vibrated, the response output can be increased even when there exists small external disturbance. As a result, a fault or a variation in air pressure in a tire can be highly accurately diagnosed.

Abstract:
An optical information apparatus for performing at least one of a reproduction operation and a recording operation for an information medium by radiating a light beam on the information medium is provided, wherein the information medium has a first region, including a first track having information recorded thereon in the form of convex and concave pits, and a second region, including a second track formed in the form of convex and concave guide grooves. The apparatus includes: first tracking error detection component for detecting an error in position between the light beam and the first track in the first region; second tracking error detection component for detecting an error in position between the light beam and the second track in the second region; tracking control component for performing tracking control for locating the light beam on a predetermined track; determination component for determining whether the light beam is located in the first region or the second region; and switching component for selecting either one of an output signal of the first tracking error detection component or an output signal of the second tracking error detection component based on a result of determination by the determination component, and sending the selected output signal to the tracking control component.
Abstract:
In the optical recording medium of the invention, land and groove tracks are arranged in a spiral manner, and a completion information region having identification reading completion information indicative of a rear end of an identification region is disposed between data regions. A pair of wobble pits are disposed immediately behind the identification reading completion information region, and therefore the wobble pits can accurately be detected by reading out the wobble pits on the basis of the identification reading completion information.
Abstract:
A printer includes a tractor unit for feeding continuous form paper, encoders driven in synchronization with the tractor unit, and detecting sensors for detecting the encoders to generate feed pulses at a standard interval. The printer further includes a paper top sensor for detecting a leading edge of the continuous form paper to generate paper top signal and is arranged to control the feed of the paper based on the feed pulse generated after the paper top signal. In order to adjust the printing position on the paper in case where the scanning position is misaligned due to a manufacturing error, the position of the detecting sensors is adjustable with respect to the encoders to compensate for the error. Further, the position of the paper top sensor is adjustable with respect to the tractor unit in order to keep the relationship between the feed pulse and the paper top signal unchanged regardless of the adjustment of the detecting sensors.
Abstract:
A charge removing member is arranged just upstream of an image transfer area along a continuous form transport path, between the last guiding portion and the transfer area, to remove accumulated charge on the continuous form. The charge removing member is alternatively a brush contactable to the form, a non-contact conductive member, a brush movable toward and away from the form, or a brush that acts as a guide member. Further alternatively, the brush contacts the form only during reverse feeding of the form, and in this case, is alternatively movable toward and away from the form, movable toward and away from the form in association with a transfer unit, or positioned to contact a straight form while being out of contact with a form bent by a transfer unit.
