    摘要: A p or n type thermoelectric material containing, as constituent elements, at least one of Bi and Sb and at least one of Te and Se. The n type one may further contain at least one element selected from I, Cl, Hg, Br, Ag, and Cu. The thermoelectric material has a sea-island microstructure, in which the sea phase is crystal grains having an average grain size of 5 μm or smaller with their c-axes aligned unidirectionally, and the island phase is elongated crystal gains with an average length of 20 to 50 μm that are randomly distributed in the sea phase. The island phase has a microstructure in which at least one of the constituent elements is segregated. A process of producing the thermoelectric material includes mixing a sinter material with a powder having a higher Te content than the sinter material and applying heat and pressure to the mixture.

    摘要: In the information recording apparatus, by driving the light source by the pulse signal corresponding to the recording signal, the laser pulse corresponding to the recording signal is irradiated onto the recording medium. The recording signal has the mark period to form the recording mark, and the space period in which the recording mark is not formed. In the mark period, the output level of the laser pulse changes between the normal level and the writing level, thereby, the recording mark is formed on the recording medium. On the one hand, over a predetermined period in the space period, the output level of the laser pulse is changed to the low level lower than the normal level. Thereby, the heat accumulation onto the recording medium, due to the transient response of the laser pulse in the mark period, is reduced, and in the mark period after that, the correct recording mark can be formed.

    摘要: A tilt correcting apparatus makes a tilt correction in an information recording apparatus or the like capable of recording record information onto an information recording medium, on an information recording surface of which a track having a wobble is formed, by emitting laser light thereonto. The tilt correcting apparatus is provided with: a correcting device for changing an irradiation angle of the laser light; a controlling device for controlling the correcting device such that the irradiation angle is set to be each of a plurality of predetermined angles before the record information is recorded; a wobble detecting device for detecting a wobble signal corresponding to the wobble from a photo-detection signal of light from the track caused by the laser light; and a tilt determining device for determining an amount of tilt of the information recording surface, on the basis of the detected wobble signal. The controlling device controls the correcting device to correct the irradiation angle in accordance with the determined amount of tilt when the record information is recorded.

    摘要: Successive bytes of data are recorded in successive sectors on a disk medium by N recording heads. Successive data units, each formed of multiple bytes, are written sequentially into N memory devices, and those N memory devices are sequentially read to supply a data unit from one memory device to a corresponding recording head, thereby recording a data unit in successive sectors on the disk medium. The same N heads can be used to reproduce the recorded bytes from the disk medium.
