Abstract: A New Radio (NR) control signal that indicates one or more Long Term Evolution (LTE) network parameters may be transmitted to NR UEs to enable the NR UEs to identify which resources carry LTE signal(s). The NR UEs may then receive one or more NR downlink signals over remaining resources in a set of resources without processing those resources that carry LTE signal(s). The NR downlink signals may have a zero power level, or otherwise be blanked, over resources that carry the LTE signal(s).

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for uplink measurement based mechanism and control using user equipment (UE) centric sounding signals. The mechanism provides an alternative to DL-measurement dominated system control. Based on UL-measurements at TPs, the network obtains knowledge of users' channel and timing information, traffic, and interference, and is thus able to perform better control, including TP and UE clustering and optimization, and power control and link adaptation. In an embodiment method, a TP receives one-to-one mapping information indicating a plurality of UE IDs and a plurality of sounding channels assigned to the corresponding UE IDs. When the TP detects a sounding reference signal (SRS) from a UE, the TP is able to identify the UE using the detected SRS and the one-to-one mapping information. The TP then obtains measurement information for the identified UE, enabling better control and communications for uplink and downlink transmissions between multiple TPs and the UE.

Abstract: Systems and methods for UE state machine to support multiple services or air interfaces are described. The UE may have one configuration of the state machine for multiple services or air interfaces. The UE may have multiple state machines for different services or air interfaces that work independently. The UE may have multiple state machines for different services or air interfaces that work collaboratively. The UE may have a state machine that uses a state machine configuration selected out of a plurality of state machine configurations according to the services used. The configuration of this state machine may be adapted to services. At initialization, the configuration of this state machine may be default or be determined according to the services the UE may use. During operation, the configuration of this state machine may change according to the change in services for the UE.

Abstract: A notification regarding a transition of a User Equipment (UE) from a standby operating mode to an active operating mode is exchanged between a UE and a network element in a communication network. The notification could be an uplink notification that is transmitted by the UE to the network element in response to an operating mode transition criterion for the UE being met at the UE, or a downlink notification that is transmitted by the network element to the UE in response to an operating mode transition criterion for the UE being met at the network element. The UE transitions from the standby operating mode to the active operating mode in response to the operating mode transition criterion being satisfied. The transmitter of the notification, which could be the UE or the network element, could also perform grant-free transmission of data without first receiving a response to the notification.

A radio frame may include TDD scheduling intervals with such regions and/or TDD scheduling intervals without such regions for wireless communication, and these TDD scheduling intervals may further be configured in accordance with different frame structure configurations, such as different scheduling interval lengths, subcarrier spacings or symbol durations.

The method also includes transmitting a first plurality of data on a first TTI in the first downlink TTI segment of the first TDD TTI configurations of the first TDD interval and receiving a second plurality of data on the first uplink segment of the first TDD TTI configuration of the first TDD interval.
