摘要: Processes for purification of saline minerals using magnetic separation are disclosed. In particular, saline minerals can include trona, borates, potash, sulfates, nitrates and chlorides. The magnetic separation can include high intensity magnetic separation which can be conducted at greater than about 20,000 Gauss and up to greater than about 50,000 Gauss. Other embodiments of the invention include calcination of a saline mineral in an inert atmosphere or in an oxygen-containing atmosphere at a high temperature prior to magnetic separation. A further embodiment of the invention includes pre-alignment of particles on a surface to align the particles of high magnetic force during a magnetic separation step. Also disclosed are various embodiments of magnetic separation which include subjecting an ore to a preliminary magnetic field prior to magnetic separation.

摘要: An X-ray tube with a cathode and an anode arranged in a vacuum housing has an electromagnet for deflecting the electron beam emanating from the cathode and proceeding to the anode, the electromagnet having a yoke with two legs connected to one another by a base section, with a winding surrounding the base section. The base section with the winding is located outside the vacuum housing. The legs of the yoke of the electromagnet extend into the vacuum housing so that the electron beam proceeds between the two legs.

摘要: An X-ray tube has a cathode and an anode arranged in a vacuum housing, the electron beam emanating from the cathode proceeding through a hollow cylindrical housing part of the vacuum housing to the anode. An electromagnet is provided for the deflection of the electron beam. The electromagnet has a U-shaped yoke with two legs having first ends connected to one another by a base section and having a winding surrounding the base section. The legs straddle the housing part and the electromagnet is disposed so that the electron beam is spaced a distance from the second ends of the legs so that from the second ends of the legs so that the electron beam is situated only in the stray field of the electromagnet, rather than in the region of maximum field strength.

摘要: An x-ray radiator has an x-ray tube disposed in a protective housing and a fastening means having a portion attached to the x-ray tube inside the housing, and a portion which extends through the housing to the exterior of the housing. The exterior portion serves as a fastener to attach the x-ray radiator to a mount. The x-ray tube, within the housing, thus becomes directly attached to the exterior mount, which improves the precision with which the specified position of the central ray of the x-ray beam emanating from the x-ray tube can be achieved.

摘要: Methods and apparatus relate to treating hydrocarbons recovered with steam condensate from a formation. The treating removes particulates from the hydrocarbons by addition of a flocculant to produced fluids containing the hydrocarbons and an aqueous phase with the condensate. The flocculant causes the particulates suspended in the hydrocarbons to agglomerate and be transferred to the aqueous phase, which is then separated from the hydrocarbons.

摘要: There is provided herein a method for producing hydrogen gas, comprising: sorbing a liquid hydrocarbon fuel to a gasification catalyst to form a sorbed hydrocarbon fuel; heating said sorbed hydrocarbon fuel to a first temperature for a first period of time sufficient to form coke; and gasifying said coke at a second temperature at a pressure for a second period of time in the presence of water and/or oxygen, so as to produce hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide and to regenerate said catalyst. In particular, the hydrocarbon fuel can be a liquid biomass, such pyrolysis oil, and the method can be CO2 neutral.
