    摘要: A novel vehicle stability control device through steering wheels independently of the driver's handling operation is provided, in which a suitable steering angle parameter in determining a target value for a turning state parameter is selected. The control device calculates a provisional target steering angle for wheels based upon an amount of an operation of a driver and a predetermined steering characteristic; a target value for the turning state parameter; and a target steering angle for wheels for reducing a magnitude of a deviation of the actual turning state parameter from its target value when the magnitude of the deviation is at a reference value or above, and thereby controlling a steering angle based upon the target steering angle. During execution of controlling the steering angle based upon the target steering angle, the target value of the turning state parameter is calculated based upon the provisional target steering angle.

Accordingly, since it is possible to estimate the grip degree which is changed in correspondence to a magnitude of the road surface it, for example, in the case that the steered wheel gets close to the grip limit, it is possible to increase the steering gear ratio so as to set large even at a time when the vehicle runs at the low speed. Therefore, since it is possible to prevent a phenomenon that the steered wheel is largely controlled by a smaller steering angle from being generated in the case that the vehicle runs on the road surface having the low μ, there is obtained an effect that a stability in the vehicle motion can be improved.

A pump is disposed in the hydraulic pressure controlling circuit to pump brake fluid, and a motor is operatively connected to the pump to apply a driving force to the pump. A voltmeter is electrically connected to the motor to detect the output voltage of the motor and a calculating arrangement is provided to calculate the value of the decrease gradient of the output voltage of the motor. A condition check device detects that a malfunction has been caused in either the reservoir or the motor based on the calculation results of the calculation arrangement.
