    摘要: An inkjet printhead, printing system and a method of inkjet printing employ a boundary layer control apparatus to control a boundary layer of air flow surrounding a nozzle opening of an inkjet pen. The printhead includes the pen supported by a housing that is configured so that the nozzle opening both faces a substrate and is spaced from the substrate by a gap. The apparatus is a structure adjacent to the nozzle opening and supported at a leading edge of the housing ahead of the nozzle opening relative to a direction of movement of the substrate. The structure is configured to extend into the gap. The printing system further includes the substrate. The method includes moving the substrate below the printhead, controlling the boundary layer, and depositing an ink onto the moving substrate.

In one aspect, a hard imaging apparatus charging device is disclosed. The charging device includes first and second end members, and an intermediate member connecting the first and second end members. The intermediate member may have a length corresponding to an imaging area of the image bearing member of the hard imaging apparatus. The intermediate member may be configured to charge the imaging area used to form latent images on the image bearing member during hard imaging operations of the hard imaging apparatus. The first and second end members of the charging device may be configured to maintain a predetermined spaced charging clearance between the intermediate member and the imaging area of the image bearing member. The first and second end members and the intermediate member of the charging device include a monolithic layer.

    摘要: A method of adjusting imaging apparatus including: (a) charging a photoreceptor surface to a first voltage; (b) selectively discharging portions of the charged photoreceptor surface, with a beam of electromagnetic energy such as a laser beam or LED output, having a controllable power, to form a predefined electrostatic latent test image on the photoreceptor surface; (c) developing, using a second voltage different from the first voltage, a layer of charged toner particles onto the selectively discharged portions of the photoreceptor surface, thereby providing a developed test image corresponding to the latent test image; (d) measuring the apparent optical density of portions of the developed test image, including a solid print portion and a predetermined gray level portion; (e) comparing the measured solid and gray level optical densities with predetermined, desired, solid and gray level optical densities; and (f) adjusting the second voltage and the power of the laser beam based on the comparison between the measured and desired solid and gray level optical densities.
