Abstract:
The present invention provides supramolecular hydrogels having a three-dimensional, self-assembling, elastic, network structure comprising non-polymeric, functional molecules and a liquid medium, whereby the functional molecules are noncovalently crosslinked. The functional molecules may be, for instance, anti-inflammatory molecules, antibiotics, metal chelators, anticancer agents, small peptides, surface-modified nanoparticles, or a combination thereof. Applications of the present invention include use of the supramolecular hydrogel, for instance, as a biomaterial for wound healing, tissue engineering, drug delivery, and drug/inhibitor screening.
Abstract:
The synthesis of thiophene based conducting polymer molecular actuators, exhibiting electrically triggered molecular conformational transitions is reported. Actuation is believed to be the result of conformational rearrangement of the polymer backbone at the molecular level, not simply ion intercalation in the bulk polymer chain upon electrochemical activation. Molecular actuation results from π-π stacking of thiophene oligomers upon oxidation, producing a reversible molecular displacement that leads to surprising material properties, such as electrically controllable porosity and large strains. The existence of active molecular conformational changes is supported by in situ electrochemical data. Single molecule techniques have been used to characterize the molecular actuators.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for establishing a service connection, comprising: before initiating a service request, UE will select a cell that can provide the said service; if a cell that can provide the said service is selected, UE will send a service request to the network in the cell that can provide the said service, and establish the service connection with the network; if no cell that can provide the said service is selected, UE will notify the subscriber that service connection is unsuccessful. UE performs cell selection/reselection according to the requested service and will not send a service request to the network until selecting a proper cell to reside, the process thereof can greatly increase service access probability and improve service quality, thus increasing subscribers' satisfaction toward services and promoting service expansion and application.
Abstract:
A method is provided of restricted substance management and recycling in a manufacturing environment. The method includes the steps of inputting restricted substances and recycle content data of parts supplied by an inputter of information and receiving the inputted data by a receiver of information via a computer system. The method also includes the steps of reviewing the inputted data and determining parts with banned or recycled content or substances over predetermined thresholds. The method further includes the steps of reporting the determined parts to the inputter of the information and the receiver of the information.
Abstract:
There is provided an apparatus and method for transferring data packets from a peripheral module to a memory via a memory-controller. When a given peripheral module requests that it send a data packet to the memory via the memory-controller, the memory-controller sends an acknowledgement indicating that the peripheral module can send the data packet, whether or not there is a descriptor for the data packet. If there is a descriptor, the memory-controller receives the data packet from the peripheral module and stores it in the memory. If there is not a descriptor, the memory-controller discards the data packet as it receives it. Thus, whether or not there is a descriptor available for the data packet, the peripheral module still sends the data packet to the memory-controller. The data packets may be assigned classifications and each classification may be assigned a dedicated space in the memory.
Abstract:
A method and system for upfront analysis of at least one substance used in the design process of a vehicle. A vehicle ontology is created that is stored in a database. The vehicle ontology records all the substances used in the design of the vehicle along with all the attributes of the substances and the relations between the substances. All the standards for the substances and the attributes of the standards are recorded in a materials ontology. A knowledge base engine, e.g., the database, analyzes the materials ontology to determine whether a substance conforms to a standard, e.g., a recyclability requirement.
Abstract:
A method is described for treating fabrics, yarns and individual fibers to improve the mechanical properties thereof, for example their wrinkle-resistance, by treating the fabric, yarn, and fibers in a solution containing nanoparticles. The nanoparticles include two sizes of particles and b appropriate selection of the nanoparticles the degree and mode of cross-linking in the fabric can be controlled with corresponding control of the mechanical properties.
