Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that may ensure equal medium access between a first wireless device associated with a load based equipment (LBE) protocol and a number of second wireless devices associated with an enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA). The first wireless device may determine a level of contention associated with gaining access to a wireless medium, select a contention window size based, at least in part, on the determined level of contention, and select, for a medium access contention operation, a random back-off number from a range of numbers defined by the selected contention window size.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for avoiding extended interframe space (EIFS) in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A wireless device may transmit a message during a transmit opportunity (TXOP) that includes a first portion transmitted at a first data rate and a second portion transmitted at a second rate that is higher than the first. The wireless device may then transmit a terminating message at the first data rate. The wireless device may also receive a second message prior to transmitting the terminating message. The terminating message may be a clear-to-send message (CTS) or an acknowledgement (ACK) message. The first message may be an aggregate media access control packet data unit (A-MPDU) in which the first portion is a preamble and the second portion is an MPDU.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a relay provides relay services for network communication between a first station and a second station. In one aspect, the relay may receive data packets sent to the second station by the first station, and retransmit the data packets if it determines that the second station has not acknowledged the data packet. In one other aspect, the first station may be configured to transmit a relay-able acknowledgement that includes a sequence number identifying data being acknowledged. The relay may be configured to receive a transmission of a first relay-able acknowledgement by the first station and retransmit a second relay-able acknowledgement if it determines the second station did not receive the first relay-able acknowledgement sent by the first station. In some aspects, the second station is an access point.

The method also includes refraining from entering the power save mode until an end of data frame is received from the access point.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for enhanced network utilization between an access point and a number of wireless stations. A station (STA), following a transmit opportunity (TXOP), may determine a utilization of the TXOP. Based on the determination, the STA may adjust a delay time for a subsequent transmission. The adjustment of the delay time may include increasing an initial contention window (CW), increasing a backoff value, and/or increasing a number of backoffs for TXOPs following an underutilized TXOP. The increased delay time may result in, on average, increased backoff times in such situations. The delay time may be reduced to a minimum delay time following a certain number of TXOPs that more fully utilize the TXOP. Utilization of the TXOP may be determined based on an amount of time used for the TXOP relative to a TXOP limit that may be set by an access point.
