    摘要： Novel carbostyril derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is H, NO.sub.2, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkyl, halogen, optionally substituted amino, OH, CN, COOH, alkanoyloxy, hydrazinocarbonyl; q is 1 to 3, and R is a group of the formula ##STR2## [wherein R.sup.2 is H, alkoxycarbonyl, optionally substituted phenoxycarbonyl, phenylalkenyl-CO-, optionally substituted phenylalkanoyl, alkanoyl, alkenyl-CO-, optionally substituted phenyl--SO.sub.2 --, --CONR.sup.8 R.sup.9, optionally substituted heterocyclic group--CO--, naphthyl--CO--, thienylalkanoyl, tricyclo[3.3.1.1]alkanoyl, ##STR3## (R.sup.13 is OH, optionally substituted alkoxy, --NR.sup.32 R.sup.33, --O--A--(E).sub.l --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, --(B).sub.l 'NR.sup.6 R.sup.7, etc.), n is 1 or 2, m is 0 or 1 to 3, R.sup.3 is alkyl, R.sup.10 is --(CO).sub.l --NR.sup.11 R.sup.12 ], and the bond between 3- and 4-position of carbostyril nucleus is single or double bond, which have excellent vasopressin antagonistic activities and are useful as vasodilator, hypotensive agent, water diuretics, platelet agglutination inhibitor, and a vasopressin antagonistic composition containing the compound as the active ingredient.

    摘要： A method of producing polymer particles having a particle size distribution of .+-.25% with respect to each average particle size in an amount of 95 wt. % or more, within the average particle sizes ranging from 1 .mu.m to 100 .mu.m, is disclosed, which comprises the steps of: (1) adding a polymer dispersion stabilizer in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt. % to a hydrophilic organic liquid in which the polymer dispersion stabilizer is soluble; (2) adding thereto at least one vinyl monomer in an amount of not more than 50 times by weight the amount of the polymeric dispersion stabilizer, which monomer is soluble in the hydrophilic organic liquid, but a polymer synthesized from the monomer being swelled or substantially insoluble in the hydrophilic organic liquid; and (3) polymerizing the monomer under the condition that the amount of the vinyl monomer is 200 wt. % or less of the hydrophilic organic liquid.

    摘要： A position-detecting device comprising a scale, a first photo-interrupter, and a second photo-interrupter. The scale is attached to a movable member, and has a plurality of slits arranged at regular intervals. Each photo-interrupter includes a light source and a light detector, which are located at opposing sides of said scale, respectively. The first and second photo-interrupters are spaced apart such that when the scale moves, they generate, respectively, a first signal and a second signal which have a phase difference of .pi./2. These signals are processed, thereby to determine the position of the movable member with high accuracy.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus is provided that includes: first and second electrostatic latent image bearers; first and second electrostatic latent image forming devices; first and second developing devices configured to develop first and second electrostatic latent images with a colored toner and a special-color toner to form a colored toner image and a special-color toner image, respectively; a primary transfer device configured to transfer the colored toner image and the special-color toner image onto an intermediate image bearer in an overlapping manner to form a composite toner image; a secondary transfer device configured to transfer the composite toner image onto a recording medium; and a fixing device configured to fix the composite toner image thereon. The special-color toner comprises plate-like and/or film-like pigments. An absolute difference in volume resistivity between the special-color toner and the colored toner is 0.30 log Ω cm or less.
