摘要: Methods and apparatus for management of network slices in a communication network such as a 5th generation wireless communication network are provided. Management planes may be provided which are separate from the plurality of network slices. A connection manager residing in a management plane receives an indication that a mobile device is to be associated with the communication network. The connection manager may reside at an access node or in the core network. A network slice is determined, and the connection manager transmits instructions, to one or more network nodes, to associate the mobile device with the network slice. The instructions may be provided to a local connection manager. The slice may be requested explicitly by the mobile device, or determined based on device and/or network requirements.

摘要: A hierarchical link scheduling system and method is provided. A central controller gathers network information, including global parameters and long term demands, and determines an initial schedule for link activation based on these variables. A scheduler receives the initial schedule and modifies the initial schedule based on local parameters, inter-schedule negotiation, or other short term or localized requests. The scheduler activates the links according to the modified schedule. Accordingly, the scheduler can be responsible for modifying the initial schedule provided by central controller with localized or short term requests or demands, and providing the necessary parameters to enable link activation between nodes according to the modified schedule.

摘要: A method, system and computer-usable medium are provide for dynamically assigning radio resources (e.g., channels), within a context of a mobile communications network, to heterogeneous nodes such as reconfigurable eNB, Relay Node (RN) and Home eNB (HeNB) and other reconfigurable nodes to improve spectrum utilization. The dynamic assignment of channels for these nodes may be from existing spectrum bands for re-fanning, or from secondary spectrum such as TVWS. Both CA and SON procedures can be extended to enable CR and DSA techniques and improve spectrum utilization. These extensions enable dynamic allocation of fixed, non-legacy component carriers to different nodes within an operator's network, opportunistic use of white space within an operators own licensed bands; and, opportunistic allocation of available channels within TV white space (TVWS) or other dynamically available channels (perhaps in coordination with other operators).

摘要: A method is provided for communication in a cell in a wireless telecommunication system. The method comprises, in a region that would otherwise carry a PDSCH, the region being defined by a number of resource blocks and a number of OFDM symbols, instead transmitting at least one of an uplink grant and a downlink assignment in a plurality of OFDM symbols within a first slot, a second slot, or both slots of the region, wherein the region can use either localized or distributed resources, and wherein the region contains one of: a transmission point-specific reference signal; a UE-specific reference signal; and a cell-specific reference signal.

摘要: The signals from adjacent transmitters reinforce one another. As a result of this over-the-air combining, signal quality is improved in the network and especially at or near cell boundaries. The present invention provides a graduated single frequency network (GSFN) wherein transmitters in cells throughout a geographic area cooperate to broadcast data to user terminals throughout the geographic area, and adjacent transmitters transmit signals that substantially reinforce one another. When transmitting the data, transmitters in certain adjacent cells throughout the geographic area may employ slightly different transmit parameters to provide slightly different transmission signals. The transmission signals used to transmit the data may be varied in a graduated fashion throughout the geographic area, wherein even when there is a difference in the transmission signals of transmitters in adjacent cells, the transmission signals reinforce one another despite being different.

摘要: A telecom connectivity service provider (TCSP) and a method for allocating an infrastructure resource to a virtual network operator (VNO). A TCSP control element sends to a downstream control element, a request for a portion of the infrastructure to be allocated to the TCSP by an infrastructure provider (InP) and receives a response from the downstream control element providing access to and control of the allocated infrastructure. The TCSP control element can pool the allocated infrastructure with other resources allocated to the TCSP and/or communicate with an upstream control element for providing access to and control of the allocated infrastructure to the VNO. The downstream control element is a local InP control element or a downstream TCSP control element. The upstream control element is a VNO control element or an upstream TCSP control element.
