    摘要: In the case of conducting an overdriving with a liquid crystal display device, the circuit for comparing the previous and present gray-scale data, the circuit for converting the gray-scale data upon the comparison result, and the like complicate the structure of the liquid crystal display device. Further, since hold driving by which the voltage applied is kept throughout one frame period is conducted in a liquid crystal display device, it is not sufficient to decrease the rise time due to high applied voltage for a countermeasure against blur of moving images. In the present invention, in one frame period, a high voltage is applied to a liquid crystal element and a constant voltage is applied after the high voltage is applied. The absolute value of the high voltage is equal to or higher than the constant voltage, in other words, equal to or higher than a reference voltage. Further, a rectangular wave within the high voltage application period (also referred to as a pulse) has a plurality of pulses having periods shorter than the rise time τON.

    摘要: To provide a film forming apparatus in which an impurity contained in an organic compound is separated to be removed and a film is formed without decreasing the purity of the purified organic compound, whereby a high-purity organic compound is formed. A film forming apparatus of the present invention includes a purifying chamber for purifying an organic compound and a film forming chamber for vapor-depositing the purified organic compound onto a substrate. The organic compound purified by a zone melting method in the purifying chamber can be vapor-deposited onto the substrate provided in the film forming chamber without decreasing the purity thereof, so that a high-purity organic compound layer can be formed.

    摘要: A reflection type liquid crystal display panel is arranged such that between an active matrix substrate and an opposing substrate there are provided thin film transistors, interlayer insulating film, pixel electrodes, light reflecting films, orientation film, phase transition type guest/host liquid crystal, orientation film, opposing electrode, and color filter in this order. The pixel electrodes are disposed on the active matrix substrate in the form of a matrix with the interlayer insulating film interposed therebetween and also are respectively connected to the thin film transistors. The light reflecting films are each formed by the upper surface of the pixel electrode per se being made into a porous layer. The porous layer formed as the light reflecting film can make the light scattering large in amount and can also reflect the light in a desired direction by changing its pore size or depth.

In the liquid crystal projector, dichroic mirrors arranged at different angles are used to separate white light into beams of light of three primary colors of R, G, and B, and the respective beams of light are incident on microlenses at different angles. The respective beams of light of the three primary colors are distributed by the microlenses to optical components corresponding to pixels, and highly collimated light beams can be obtained by the optical components. Since the highly collimated light beams are made incident on the pixels of the liquid crystal panel, the beams can be certainly made incident on desired pixels.

    摘要: An EL display device capable of reducing an average film resistance of an anode in an EL device as well as displaying an image with high definition, and electrical equipment including such an EL display device are provided. A light-shielding metal film (109) is provided on an anode (108) so as to conceal gaps between the pixels. Thus, an average film resistance of the anode (108) in the EL device is reduced. Furthermore, light leakage from the gaps between the pixels can be prevented, resulting in an image display with high definition.
