    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal cell, polarizers, a first retardation plate arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the first polarizer, and a second retardation plate arranged between the liquid crystal cell and the second polarizer. Each retardation plate has an optical axis in a plane parallel to the substrate surface and a retardation of substantially λ/4. The optical axis of one retardation plate is perpendicular to the optical axis of the other. The polarizing axes of the polarizers are arranged at an angle of 45° with respect to the optical axes of the retardation plates. The liquid crystal cell is arranged such that a state of alignment of liquid crystal molecules changes, accompanying a change in a polar angle and/or change in an azimuth, upon application of a voltage.

A monitoring unit 35a monitors a state of the buffer 34 periodically. When the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of increasing from a standard data storage number, successively a predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to overflow. And, the decoding unit 35 is made to skip at least one encoded data to be read and processed this time from the buffer 34. Further, when the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of decreasing from the mentioned standard data storage number, successively the predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to underflow. And, the processing unit 35 is made to suspend operation during at least one period of the above-mentioned reproduction period.

    摘要: The driving mechanism has an instrument body formed with a recording medium inserting slot for inserting a recording medium into the instrument body. The driving mechanism moves a first operation unit and a second operation unit between a first position for covering the recording medium inserting slot and a second position for exposing the recording medium inserting slot. The driving mechanism includes a first turnable supporting member turnably fitted to the instrument body for supporting the first operation unit, a first drive device for turning the first turnable supporting member, a second supporting member for supporting the second operation unit, a second turnable supporting member turnably fitted to the instrument body for supporting the second operation unit, and a second drive device for turning the second turnable supporting member. The second drive device supports the second supporting member movably in directions along which the recording medium is inserted and removed through the recording medium inserting slot of the instrument body. The first drive device turns the first turnable supporting member to move the first operation unit between the first position and the second position. The second drive device moves the second supporting member and turns the second turnable supporting member to move the second operation unit between the first position and the second position.
