摘要: A cooling system includes a pressurized liquid refrigerant source having a liquid refrigerant and a cooling garment coupled to the liquid refrigerant source. The cooling garment defines chambers containing a heat transfer fluid. During operation, a user places the cooling garment in thermal communication with a body portion of a subject. As the cooling garment receives the liquid refrigerant from the pressurized source, the liquid refrigerant thermally contacts the heat transfer fluid and evaporates, thereby reducing the temperature of the heat transfer fluid. The heat transfer fluid, in turn, reduces the temperature of the body portion in thermal communication with the cooling garment. The heat transfer fluid acts to substantially evenly distribute cooling, as provided by the evaporation of the liquid refrigerant, to the body portion contacting the cooling garment to minimize localized “cold spots” within the chamber.

摘要: A self-contained disposable single-use heat generating apparatus comprising a heat generating pack having a first bag layer defined by a first surface area bonded to a second bag layer defined by a second surface area and creating a pouch therebetween. A heat generating agent is disposed within the pouch and adapted to consume air at a predetermined consumption rate in an exothermic reaction. At least a portion of one of the first surface area and the second surface area comprises an air permeable surface area having a predetermined airflow rate such that the heat generating agent remains substantially evenly distributed within the pouch. A method of providing therapeutic heat is also provided.

摘要: An apparatus and method is disclosed for an improved absorbent pad and thermal pack for absorbing a liquid discharged from a patient. The absorbent pad and thermal pad comprises an outer sheet made of a liquid impermeable material and an inner sheet of a liquid permeable material. An absorbent sheet is disposed between the inner sheet and the outer sheet. A flexible liquid impermeable container having a chemical mixture which undergoes a thermal reaction upon activation thereof is interposed between the outer and inner sheets to enable the thermal source to be applied to the patient and to enable any liquid from the patient to permeate through the inner sheet to be absorbed by the absorbent sheet. The inner sheet of a liquid permeable material provides a moderate insulation barrier whereas the absorbent pad provides a substantial insulation barrier for directing the thermal source to the patient.

摘要: A water pillow comprised of a closed bag made of cloth or nonwoven fabric having high water permeability. A water absorptive high polymer material is contained in the bag and expands with water absorption such that the expansion capacity defines the volume of the water pillow. A deodorant agent can be absorbed in the absorptive material in order to eliminate odors associated with sweat.

摘要: A device for warming a human body. The device is a gown that has a body with a thorax portion and a leg portion. One embodiment prevents redistribution hypothermia with a distributor attached to the inside of the leg portion. The sleeves, leg portion, and posterior of the gown are heat reflective. The anterior of the thorax portion of the gown is non-reflective. The distributor inflates when heated air is supplied. The distributor exhausts air into the gown. Temperature is maintained at a desired level for the extremities, while preventing the thorax area from being elevated to an uncomfortable level. Another embodiment is a perioperative warming device. The device is a gown that has a thorax portion and a leg portion. Each portion has an independent air chamber and inlet. The two portions are releasably connected. The sleeves, leg portion, and anterior of the gown are heat reflective.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide an exothermic device which is capable of reaching a high temperature upon use, and capable of sustaining a high temperature state for a prolonged period of time. The present invention provides an exothermic device (1) including: an exothermic agent (5); and a packaging material enclosing the exothermic agent (5). The packaging material is in the form of a flat bag composed of a first surface and a second surface. Each of the first surface and the second surface includes a breathable region (2) and a non-breathable region (3).
