    摘要: A cooling device for placement against a body part or object includes a shell member having an outer face and an inner face disposed against a surface to be cooled. A first cooling substrate is disposed within the shell member and is an absorbent web having a generally uniform application of a first cooling composition applied thereto, the cooling composition activated by contact with an aqueous liquid. An aqueous liquid source is disposed within the shell member and is separated from the first cooling substrate by a barrier member. The device is activated by manual manipulation to breach the barrier member causing liquid from the liquid source to move within the interior space of the shell member to contact and activate the cooling composition whereby a cooling reaction is generated.

    摘要: A cooling device includes a target fluid inlet, a target fluid outlet, an inner conduit, and a chamber surrounding the inner conduit. The inner conduit communicates with the target fluid inlet and the target fluid outlet, and provides a flow path for a target fluid to be cooled. The chamber contains a first endothermic reactant and includes a reactant inlet selectively alterable from a closed state to an open state. When the reactant inlet is in the closed state, the first endothermic reactant is isolated from a second endothermic reactant and no endothermic reaction occurs. When the reactant inlet is in the open state, the reactant inlet provides a flow path for enabling the second endothermic reactant to come into contact with the first endothermic reactant in the chamber for initiating the endothermic reaction and cooling the target fluid in the inner conduit.

    摘要: A temperature pack adapted to enclose an appendage, and method of forming such a temperature pack is provided. The temperature pack is a tubular pouch with an inner wall spaced apart from an outer wall. An opening extending through the tubular pouch, and the inner wall is twisted relative to the outer wall. The temperature pack is formed by rolling a tube onto itself such that the distal ends of the tube are aligned to each other. The temperature pack may be filled with particulate material separated from a liquid solvent wherein when the two are mixed an exothermic or endothermic reaction occurs.

    摘要: A device for activating a two component reaction system where the two reaction component are in separate containers with one container inside the other. The containers are sealed from each other and the inner container includes an activation element for opening a part of the seal. A pressure differential between the pressure in the inner and outer containers is made so the inner container has the higher pressure. Opening a part of the seal in the inner container drives the second component to react with the first reaction component. The seal is opened by cutting the inner container.
