Abstract:
A device for clamping a collet in a machine tool having a rotatable spindle and a spindle nose thereon includes a mounting portion fastenable to the spindle and a clamping portion extending from the mounting portion. A bore is defined through the clamping portion and the mounting portion. At least one moveable ring is located within a portion of the bore defined by the clamping portion, the moveable ring being configured to receive the collet or any other appropriate clamping tool. At least one screw is mounted in the clamping portion and can be tightened against the moveable ring. The collet or clamping tool is attachable to the spindle nose of the machine tool and is drawn into the bore of the clamping portion. A method of clamping a collet includes providing the clamping device, attaching the device to the machine tool, inserting the collet into the clamping device, and attaching the collet to the spindle nose.

A device includes a rear holding member including a front externally threaded projection and a varied-diameter passage; a flexible clamping member including a conic section, a rear tapered section, and an axial channel; a retainer ring including an inwardly extending annular member and an internally threaded section; a front holding member including a rear flange, a front conic passageway, and internal threads; and a fastening ring including rear threads, an internal shoulder, and two front, opposite curved members. The clamping member is urged against the passage; the retaining ring is put on the rear holding member; a drill bill is configured to insert through the channel into the passage; the front holding member has a rear end urging against the annular member; the internal threads are secured to the externally threaded projection, and an inner surface of the front holding member compresses the conic section.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-precision clamping device for tools in machine tools of the conventional type according to ISO 15488 and to a collet chuck, a base and a tensioning nut. The invention also relates to a chuck key for tightening the locknut without radial stress. The clamping device according to the invention is characterized by a substantially improved runout accuracy, torsional rigidity of the collet chuck and rigidity of the tool clamped therein.
Abstract:
A cutting tool includes a chuck, a compressible conical collet and a lock nut for locking the collet. The cutting tool lock nut has a nut portion with a threaded portion for threading with the chuck, and a locking portion with a collet-locking surface formed with angled coolant grooves thereon. The collet-locking surface presses on the collet head, thereby compressing it to grip a tool shank in a collet bore thereof. As the locking portion presses only against a peripheral surface of the collet head, the lock nut is suitable for locking collets with different bore diameters. When the chuck is provided with a coolant fluid, the coolant fluid flows through the chuck and through the collet towards the locking portion, passing through the coolant notches between the locking portion and the collet head, and sprayed towards a location along the tool shank.
Abstract:
A gripper for use in combination with a pin has a body having an axially open cavity in which the pin is engageable. Jaws in the cavity are radially displaceable between an inner holding position bearing radially inwardly on and gripping the pin and an outer release position in which the pin can be removed axially from the cavity. An actuating element in the body is engageable with the jaws and shiftable between end positions corresponding to the inner and outer positions of the jaws. An actuator connected to the actuating element can move it from one of the end positions into the other of the end positions. An externally accessible connecting or operating member on the chuck body is connected through an emergency release with the jaws for moving the jaws into the outer release position as the result of connection to or operation of the member.
Abstract:
An accessory tool retention assembly for a rotary tool includes a collet having a body defining a collet axis and having a plurality of flexible segments that extend longitudinal along the body generally parallel to the collet axis, each flexible segment including a curved end portion that curves radially outwardly from the collet body. A collet chuck is configured to be coupled to an output shaft of a motor of a rotary tool. The collet chuck defines a collet receiving passage configured to slidably receive the collet. A front wall portion on the collet chuck defines an insertion opening aligned with the passage of the collet chuck. The front wall portion defines a plurality of recesses sized and shaped complementary to the curved end portions of the collet. The plurality of recesses is positioned to receive the curved end portions when the collet is inserted into the collet receiving passage.
Abstract:
An accessory tool retention assembly for a rotary tool includes a collet having a body defining a collet axis and a plurality of flexible segments that extend longitudinal along the body generally parallel to the collet axis. Each flexible segment includes a curved end portion that curves radially outwardly from the collet body. A collet chuck is configured to be coupled to an output shaft of a motor of a rotary tool. The collet chuck defines a collet receiving passage configured to slidably receive the collet. A detent structure is positioned to block the collet from exiting the collet receiving passage while the flexible segments of the collet are in a relaxed state.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a chuck with a chuck body (2) having a centering hole (3) that is tapered frustoconically and in which is provided a clamping member (4) having a clamping thread (5), with an angle drive (8) having a threaded ring (6) engaged with the clamping thread (5), axially fixed to the chuck body (2), coaxial to the clamping member (4), and rotatable by a drive member (9) that can be rotated about a drive axis that is not parallel to the chuck axis.
