    摘要: A retainer for securing items to a wall of a vehicle that may be installed by the user without the use of special tools or fasteners. The retainer includes an upper component that is slidably mounted to a lower component through the use of mating rails. The upper component includes an integral ring for securing items thereto, such as cargo nets, and the lower component includes a retainer leg that may be snap-fitted into an opening formed in a vehicle wall. A release member on the lower component engages a rib on the upper component for locking the upper component to the lower component. By moving the release member to a disengaged position, the upper component may be slidably removed from the lower component. To remove the lower component from the opening in the vehicle wall, the lower component includes opposing leg fingers that when pressed cause the retainer leg to disengage from the opening in the vehicle wall.

The mechanism is arranged so as to enable relative movement between the two elements in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the layer. Also, surface portions of the attached element in contact with the mechanism are substantially parallel to the plane of the layer, and a material similar to the material of the layer is positioned between the surface portions and the mechanism. The device is especially applicable to the attachment of insulating elements on a metallic structure.

    摘要: A wedge-type low profile fastener is disclosed which is adapted to be inserted into aligned apertures in a pair of abutting surfaces. A hex head is provided on the fastener which is engageable by a tool to rotate the same. Such rotation moves a screw having a pair of spaced wires coupled thereto with a spreader between the wires. As the screw is moved, the wires move along the spreader wedging the spreader between the wires. This moves the wires outwardly against the non-accessible surfaces of the apertures thereby holding the fastener secure in the apertures until the wedging action is removed. The fastener presents a low profile so that the hex head does not stick out too far while retaining a predetermined grip range for the wires.
