    摘要: A temperature indicator for a siding panel senses panel temperature and indicates on a graphic scale the corresponding effect of thermal expansion over differences in temperature. The temperature indicator can be various forms of contact thermometer, temperature strip or sensor and can be integral or temporarily affixed during installation or for later assessment for correct panel gapping. The indicator shows how closely the edge of the panel can be placed to an adjacent surface while avoiding interference over a range of thermal expansion temperatures.

    摘要: Thermal expansion characteristics of test materials of ultra-low thermal expansion material are measured with a test beam that is split into a test material-measuring portion and an instrument-measuring portion. Both measuring portions propagate through common portions of a test arm. The test material-measuring portion encounters a test material, but the instrument-measuring portion does not. Thermal expansion characteristics of the test material are measured to high accuracy by manipulating the measures to distinguish displacements associated with the test material from displacements associated with the instrument structure.

    摘要: After measuring material properties, a meshing means produces a numerical analysis model from material property data and structure data. A numerical analysis means carries out numerical analysis by using said numerical analysis model, material property data stored in a material property database, process data and analysis definition data. A subroutine is called up while said numerical analysis is carried out. Said subroutine obtains linear expansion coefficients, a moisture absorption expansion coefficient and others, during temperature rise and drop processes, corresponding to each temperature and absorbed moisture amount, from said material property database on the basis of said analysis definition data, and gives said linear expansion coefficients or linear expansion coefficients revised in accordance with an absorbed moisture amount to said numerical analysis means. Said numerical analysis means obtains the displacement of each element on the basis of said linear expansion coefficients and others and outputs the change of structure dimensions.

The invention also comprises at least a monitoring and measuring device able to gather images sent by the at least a first and a second optical systems (3, 4). The apparatus is structured to carry out measurements of dimensions of a sample (2) while completely eliminating any influence on the measurements by the measuring system and the rest base for the sample.

Reversely, a temperature profile of the reference substance is read so that the temperature profile is applied to a physical property measurement result for the sample. Thus, thermal analysis for the large diameter sample is made accurately without the necessity of arranging a temperature sensor in the vicinity of the sample.

    摘要: Methods and devices for improved measurement of the thermal expansion and/or chemical reactivity of aggregates used in concrete and for similar substances. Aggregate is placed into the chamber of a metallic container having an enlarged opening. The aggregate is placed in a water bath, and a tightly sealable lid is placed onto the container. The lid carries a linear variable differential transducer (LVDT). A thermocouple for sensing temperature is also retained within the lid so that a sensor on the thermocouple contacts the water bath when the lid is secured onto the container. The LVDT is operationally interconnected with a storage or recording device. In a preferred construction the lid retains a tower member having a float that is freely moveably mounted upon a guide rod. Movement of the float is indicative of a volumetric change in the aggregate and water. In operation, the dilatometer device is used to determine the information relating to the amount of expansion or contraction of the aggregate in response to thermal changes. In addition, the devices and methods of the present invention are useful for determining the degree of reactivity of the aggregate. The degree of volumetric change for the aggregate alone maybe determined using equations that isolate and remove the expansion quotient of the water.

    摘要: An assembly and method suitable for determining the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of a workpiece. The assembly includes a dual channel laser interferometer system placed in operative association with the workpiece, and a vacuum, heating and cooling chamber surrounding the workpiece. The assembly is particularly useful for determining the CTE of a workpiece having a relatively low value, e.g., a CTE less than 0.1.times.10.sup.-6 inch/inch .degree.F. It is therefore advantageously employed for determining the CTE of a workpiece comprising a composite, like a graphite/epoxy composite, that may have a CTE in the range of .+-.0.2.times.10.sup.-6 inch/inch .degree.F.
