Abstract:
An apparatus for conveying a base, having feed rollers and presser rollers, is disclosed which comprises a sheet press-clamping mechanism for clamping a sheet to be arranged on the base; and a base holding member for temporarily holding the base in position when the base has been fed to a predetermined position of the sheet press-clamping mechanism. The base holding member is projected to press the base when the base has been fed to the sheet press-clamping mechanism. The base holding member is retracted when the base is set at the sheet press-clamping mechanism.
Abstract:
A material magazine for automatically feeding material such as long steel bars to a metal working machine including at least two parallel chain-conveyers, material guide rollers, a material arrival detecting means, and a material feed roller. The chain-conveyers are driven by a hydraulic motor which runs with a predetermined rotating force continuously produced when overloaded and have material push rollers with the axes vertically upward of the carrying faces of the chain-conveyers. The material push rollers are not only spaced in the direction of the conveyers but also arranged to form straiaght rows in the direction perpendicular to the conveyers, forming material holding spaces between them in the direction perpendicular to the conveyors. The material guide rollers are provided at or near one end of each of the conveyers with the axes kept vertical so that the material guide rollers may be arranged straight and parallel to the rows of the material push rollers. A material arrival detecting roller and material feed roller are provided along the material guide rollers. The material arrival detecting roller includes a vertical roller with the axis not rigidly fixed but slightly slidable and mechanically interlocked with a switch. The material feed roller feeds the material having arrived at the material guide rollers toward an index vise of the sawing machine along the length direction of the material.
Abstract:
A continuously operating one-sided formatting and edge shaping machine for edge processing four sides of work pieces is driven by a continuously running primary conveying means (10). A conveying device is mounted ahead of this single primary conveying means in the form of chain conveyors (18 and 20), which also operate continuously, so that a precisely aligned work piece can be transferred in this condition to the primary conveying means, for which purpose the two conveying means run synchronously with each other at least in the transfer area.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for supporting a partially formed plate fin heat exchanger at a tension expansion station and for moving the heat exchanger into and out of the expander station.
Abstract:
A process for the thermal cutting of profiles with a cutting torch which is guided by a control unit in accordance with the workpiece contour includes storing the contour in the control unit. The absolute values of the profile are determined by means of measuring devices in the vicinity of the profile. These values are transmitted to the control unit for determining the actual workpiece contour and the control signals for the torch.
Abstract:
An improvement in bar feeding mechanisms is disclosed. The bar feeding mechanism which comprises a plurality of roller assemblies disposed on a frame has an adjustable stop for limiting the movement of the rollers toward the axis of the bar being fed. The mechanism is especially advantageous for irregularly shaped bars.
Abstract:
Apparatus for conveying pipe longitudinally comprises a main conveyor section and first and second terminal conveyor sections positioned respectively to advance incoming pipe sections to the main conveyor section and to receive treated pipe sections from the main conveyor section, each conveyor section being adapted to locate the pipe sections continuously about a longitudinal axis while longitudinally advancing the sections at a selected feed. Each of the terminal conveyor sections is movable longitudinally by power means to effect coupling of the incoming pipe sections and detachment of the leading pipe sections, respectively, and is selectively operable to advance a pipe section carried thereby at the selected speed to permit such coupling or detachment, and to advance a pipe section at a speed greater than the selected speed prior to such coupling, or after such detachment.
Abstract:
In a process in which pipe sections are advanced longitudinally through a treatment zone while being rotated about a longitudinal axis, the pipe sections are supported as they emerge from the treatment zone in a manner which does not damage their treated surfaces. The pipe sections are coupled together by coupling members which provide rigid circumferential support surfaces between adjacent pipe section ends. A shuttle carriage, which can reciprocate between first and second limit positions, has a support assembly which can be raised and lowered into and out of supporting engagement with each successive coupling member to support the coupled ends of a pair of pipe sections over a predetermined distance upon leaving the treatment zone.
Abstract:
A device for feeding a railway rail with a substantially Ishaped cross section along a substantially horizontal path through a station in which a work operation may be performed on the rail. Two pair of vertically spaced, power driven rollers, the upper of each pair being vertically movable, press the rail between themselves and are power rotated to push the rail along the path. A flexible drive powers all the rollers and accommodates the vertical movement of the upper rollers. So that the rollers can engage the uneven surfaces of the rail in tight frictional engagement therewith, each roller comprises a plurality of discs positioned face-to-face and movable individually to adjust to the surface of the rail. The discs are mounted between power rotated end plates by three pins spaced angularly about the rotational axis of the end plates. To allow individual radial movement of the discs, a sleeve of resiliently deformable material is telescoped over each pin. As each roller is pressed against the rail, each disc presses against the sleeves to deform the latter as that disc comes into contact with the rail to allow the other discs to move relative to the rail until they make contact.
Abstract:
A feed support device for use in conjunction with a machinetool, particularly a lathe, for permitting a workpiece to be selectively supported for either translational or rotational motion. The feed support device includes a pair of cylindrical support rollers rotatably mounted on independent swivel members which are rotatable about axes which converge toward one another. Suitable actuating devices are connected to the swivel members for permitting the swivel members and the cylindrical rollers mounted thereon to be angularly displaced between a first position wherein their axes are substantially parallel to the axis of the workpiece so as to be disposed in rotational contact with the workpiece, and a second position wherein the rotational axes are substantially perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece so as to permit translational movement of the workpiece.
