    摘要: A device for measuring pressure between two cylinders of a press includes a plate mounted to the end of a journal of one of the cylinders in a position perpendicular to the cylinder axis, and a set of electrical proximity sensors measuring the tilting of the plate as a result of slight bowing of the cylinder in response to changes in applied pressure. The proximity sensors are disposed at diametric locations at a substantial radius with respect to the cylinder axis, and an electrical circuit combines signals from the proximity sensors in such a way as to cancel signals generated in response to axial shifting of the cylinder to which the plate is mounted. Preferably the sensors are mounted in the common plane including the two cylinders and a set of sensors is disposed on each side of the plate. Additional sensors can be used to independently measure the pressure applied by a third cylinder engaging the cylinder to which the plate is mounted.

    摘要: The printing machine has a multi-color offset printing unit, behind this a sheet conveying device, and an intaglio printing unit to which the sheets printed and provided with register marks in the first printing unit are transferred by the conveying device. The conveying device comprises a detector system responding to these register marks, and a register drum. Each of the two printing units and the register drum have their own drive mechanisms mechanically independent of each other. The drive mechanism for the second printing unit is controlled in dependence upon the speed of the first printing unit, and the drive mechanism for the register drum is controlled on the one hand in dependence upon the speed of the second printing unit and on the other hand in dependence upon the register deviation measured in the circumferential direction. Further, on the register drum are disposed devices for correcting side register and any skew of a sheet in dependence upon the measured register deviations. A second detector system reads the position of the abovementioned register marks relative to further register marks applied in the intaglio printing unit, and if necessary performs fine correction of register.

    摘要: A reversible color deck apparatus for rotary printing presses for permitting a printer to selectively print a plurality of colors on one side or the other of a paper web. The apparatus includes a plurality of image delivery rolls or cylinders disposed in spaced relation. A pair of blanket rolls or cylinders are disposed within the space separating the image delivery rolls and are supported at their ends by eccentric sleeve elements. These sleeve elements are operatively interconnected by control linkage which, in turn, is connected to an actuating member for effecting simultaneous movement of the axes of rotation of the blanket rolls in the same directions. Via a neutral or throw off position, the axes of rotation of the blanket rolls can be moved to two different positions which permit the printing of a plurality of colors on that side of the web corresponding to the particular position to which the blanket rolls were selected to be moved.

    摘要: To permit, selectively, multi color prime printing or prime-and-verso printing, two rubber blanket cylinders (5, 6) each in engagement with a respective cylinder (3, 4) cooperate with a single printing or impression cylinder (7), and an engagement element (23, 24, 28) such as a roller (23, 24) or a compressed air supply (28); the rubber cylinder can be engaged with the impression cylinder or, respectively, separated therefrom. The impression cylinder carries a rubber blanket to receive printing information from one (5) of the blanket cylinders to effect verso printing during one operation phase, when the engagement element controls engagement of a sheet about the impression cylinder the other rubber blanket cylinder being engaged when the sheet reaches the printing line for verso printing; during a subsequent operation phase of the machine, the second rubber blanket cylinder (6) is separated from the impression cylinder to prevent smearing contact therewith, while the first rubber blanket cylinder (5) transfers printing information from its associated plate cylinder (3) to the rubber blanket on the impression cylinder. The sheet feed mechanism feeds a sheet only for every alternate operating phase. In normal operation, with a sheet fed for each revolution, the impression cylinder receives no ink and multi color prime printing can be effected by the two rubber blanket cylinders (5, 6). Double inking can be obtained by selectively lifting off both rubber blanket cylinders for alternate revolutions and feeding a sheet, only for every other revolution of the printing system, with, then, both rubber blanket cylinders engaging the sheet looped about the impression cylinder.

    摘要: As documents are moved serially past a servo motor-driven endorser, it endorses a stamp upon each. A transport signal dependent on document speed, and an endorser signal generated by an optical tachometer mounted to the servo motor, provide input to a frequency comparator. The output of the comparator is a control signal which controls the servo motor speed to adjust the endorser rotational surface velocity to equalization with the document speed. Logic circuitry sets the endorser at a zero angular position. Responsive to an endorse command, the endorser is accelerated to document speed, receives ink from a supply roller, then endorses the passing document. A counter and a digital comparator in cooperation with the tachometer signal completion of the endorsement whereupon the endorser is decelerated and placed in the zero position. Should a succeeding endorse command occur prior to complete deceleration, acceleration is resumed after a delay count given by a PROM and based upon the pulse count when the succeeding endorse command is received.

    摘要: The squeeze of two opposed paper-receiving rolls of an offset printing press may be infinitely adjusted within a relatively small range by virtue of the fact that each end plate supporting the rolls has a slit therein between the axes of rotation of the rolls which will permit slight deformation of the plate in a direction transversely of the slit upon manipulation of an adjusting mechanism to shift the rolls toward and away from each other. Adjustment mechanism is provided on each plate and includes a cam that, when rotated by the longitudinal displacement of an operating link, has the effect of opening or closing a corresponding slit to thereby effect minute adjustment of the spatial relationship of the roll axes. The operating link has a specially threaded section from which the longitudinal displacement of the link is derived, the arrangement being such that the ratio of link rotation to link displacement is relatively high so that very fine adjustment of the critical roll relationship can be achieved.
