    摘要: A cut-off register controller is usable in a longitudinal fold forming assembly of a rotary cylinder printing press that is provided with at least one form folding assembly plane which consists of two adjacently defined longitudinal fold formers. The web ribbon or the partial web ribbons, which are longitudinally formed and folded by the formers are collated at an exit of the former assembly by the operation of a roller pair and are formed into a combined ribbon. That combined ribbon is then fed into a folding apparatus. A number of control circuits are located downstream of the formers and corresponding, in number, to at least the number of formers. The control circuits are usable for controlling the cut-off register of the printed web. Each control circuit has at least one detector and one adjusting member which is usable to adjust the distance between the web or stand and the former.

    摘要: A calibration procedure is carried out for determining the displacement distance from a reference point to the center of the blade in a web cutter in a mail inserter. A photosensor is placed near the paper plane of the web cutter to sense a web edge at the reference point downstream or upstream from the blade. At the start of the calibration procedure, the blade is caused to cut the web for providing a web edge. The web edge is moved in a backward and forward motion over the photosensor a few times for determining the theoretical center position of the photosensor relative to the position where the web is cut by the blade. By taking into account the chip-out width, the displacement distance from the center of the photosensor to the center of the chip out blade can be determined.

    摘要: The friction drive system for printing, plotting or cutting graphic images on strip material includes a feedback for a drive motor driving a plurality of friction wheels for advancing strip material in a longitudinal direction. The feedback signal includes a short-term response component and a long-term response component to accurately pinpoint the exact longitudinal location of the strip material. The short-term response component is generated by comparing a motor encoder signal from a motor encoder secured to the drive motor with a commanded longitudinal position of the strip material and passing the resultant differential error signal through an all pass filter. The long-term response component is generated by comparing a detecting encoder signal from a detecting encoder secured to a device detecting the actual longitudinal position of the strip material with the commanded longitudinal position of the strip material and passing the differential error signal through a low pass filter.

    摘要: There is disclosed a web of record members of the composite label web, tag and linerless types with cracks or fissures through the webs so that the position of the web can be detected by an optical detector. Apparatus can be used to convert the web into more usable form which includes for provision of optically detectable cracks or fissures in the web. These cracks are made by crushing the web locally between one or more crushing cutters and a back-up roll which cooperates with zero clearance. The method and apparatus can produce a reliably detectable web at low cost. The optical detector includes a source of light and a bicell detector between which the web with the cracks or fissures passes. The bicell detector produces a first output signal representing the amount of light impinging on a first portion of the detector and a second output signal representing the amount of light impinging on a second portion of the detector. A difference circuit is coupled to the bicell detector to provide a signal representing the difference between the first and second output signals of the bicell detector. From this difference signal the leading and trailing edges of a crack or fissure can be detected.
