摘要： There is provided a novel dual functioning, dual metal safety release valve for a pressure cooker. This valve comprises a metallic retainer member having a bore therein in which is held a fusible metal alloy. The metallic retainer is held in a suspended manner loosely in an opening in the lid of the pressure cooker contrary to the conventional manner in which the said release valve is sealingly fitted to the pressure cooker. The safety release valve is held at a specific angle and is so fabricated that when the pressure cooker is in operation, the safety release valve remains in suspended condition in the opening of the lid of the cooker, thereby letting air to escape first and when substantially all the air has escaped, the developing steam pressure forces the safety release valve upwards and a sealing of the opening in the lid of the cooker is achieved.

摘要： A vacuum valve for use in a tanker is constructed with means for releasing a supplemental force on the valve body if the pressure drop across the vacuum valve rises substantially above a value designated for the vacuum valve. Such an extraordinary rise of the pressure drop will occur by escape from an injury under the water-line caused by grounding, and the supplemental closing froce will therefore close the valve very fast and will thereby contribute to maintaing a high vacuum in the tank, counteracting continued escape.

摘要： A surge suppressing check valve, in its closed condition, closes a fluid passage and separates it into inlet and outlet portions. A cylinder communicates with the outlet portion. A first piston closes the cylinder adjacent to the outlet portion and is axially movable against the urging of a compression spring to enlarge the volume of the outlet portion of the fluid passage for suppressing pressure surges therein. A second piston is provided for pre-loading the bias spring, the pre-loading being selectively variable via a threaded stem and nut connected to the second piston. The first and second pistons are coupled together so that the entire assembly can be removed from the housing. Means are provided for removing fluid from the housing.

Additional venting conduits may be provided that are preferably inclined height wise and may either be mounted interiorly of the equalizing vessel so as to extend outwardly through an end wall thereof into close proximity with an end wall of the fuel tank or may be externally formed as a unitary formation of the equalizing vessel. An auxiliary sump chamber may be provided in a central portion of the auxiliary chamber bottom wall beneath the conduit venting the equalizing vessel to the atmosphere so as to ensure spillage therethrough during righting of a vehicle containing the fuel tank from an inverted position.

摘要： An illustrative embodiment of the invention provides pressure relief valve means for the core support cylinder of a nuclear reactor vessel during a failure or accident of the nuclear reactor system. The valve means is responsive to differential pressure across the valve which in one direction sealably seats the valve plate against the valve body, and which, in the other direction opens the valve for pressure relief of the cylinder. Moreover, the valve means is provided with energy absorbing means which limit the impact load of an "explosively" opening valve on the reactor vessel wall.
