摘要： A hot knife assembly for cutting excess organic polymeric material from a thermal forming mold includes a blade-like knife in the form of a thin flat plate having an inner edge connected to a heater and an outer edge with a cutting surface thereon. The thin flat plate has two flat surfaces substantially encapsulated by a refractory wedge. The refractory wedge in formed silicone material and extends coextensive and adjacent the blade-like knife for preventing stringing or re-welding of the cut material.

摘要： A male and female mold parts combination for forming a latch opening in a container molded from a softened sheet of plastic having a female mold key member arranged on the female mold part; a male mold key member arranged on the male mold part; a cutting edge adjacent to a planar face of one key and a vertical surface having a bevelled edge surface on the other key. The keys being normally registered so that on closure of the mold parts, initial contact will involve the cutting edge, the bevelled edge surface and the plastic therebetween. One of the keys is fixed in one of the mold parts and the other of the keys being located in the other of the mold parts and free to move independently of its mold part so that on closure of the mold parts the cutting edge will ride off the bevelled edge surface and slide across the vertical surface piercing and enlarging a latch opening in the plastic. The free to move key is carried so that on separation of the mold parts it is returnable to its original position and attitude occupied just prior to said initial contact.

摘要： Method and device for sealing thermoplastic material. A support plate (16) supports sheets (29, 31) of the thermoplastic material, and a heat element (18) is provided adjacent thereto. A pressure plate (20) mates with the support plate and includes recess means (24) for receiving the heat element means. A confined melt zone (35) is formed between the heat element and the pressure plate (or the recess means) when they are in mating relationship. The confined melt zone serves to confine the melted thermoplastic material to form a good seal by relieving stress between the seal and the seal-material interface. The heat element and recess means are manufactured as interchangeable dies in different sizes and shapes for different materials. The heat element may be formed into different shapes, such as a glove for manufacturing gloves.

摘要： An arrangement for the thermoforming of molded plastic articles from a continuous web of a thermoplastic material, and more particularly, a trim in place thermoforming arrangement in which the plastic articles are simultaneously molded and at least substantially or completely separated from the remaining thermoplastic web material. A high degree of alignment and precision is obtained between cooperating cutting blades employed in the trimming of the thermoformed articles, because of a unique self-aligning or floating support structure of at least one of the cutting blades operating in conjunction with the thermoforming apparatus. The self-aligning action provided for between the slidingly contacting cutting blades allows for an automatic compensation for any temperature changes and blade wear encountered during operation, and with only one movable part being required for the trim in place device.

摘要： This invention relates to a mold for the covering and trimming of plastics products, particularly of panels for the inside upholstery of motor vehicles. The object of the invention is to avoid that the covering material (4), spread over a heated sheet of plastics material intended to constitute the product (3) to be covered, may be pinched between two side knives (8) associated with two substantially rectilinear sides of the outline of the product (3) and converging to each other toward a preferably rounded corner of said product (3). To achieve this object, at the angle between the two side knives (8) associated with the converging substantially rectilinear sides, there is arranged a knife (8') which is shaped correspondingly to said corner, and the ends of which slidably engage the outer planar surfaces of tapered end extensions (108) of the side knives (8). Means (9, 9', 10, 10') are provided for displacing simultaneously the side knives (8) and interposed shaped knife (8'). The sliding surfaces between the extensions (108) of the side knives (8) and interposed shaped knife (8') are at such an angle to the directions of movement of either the two side knives (8) and the interposed shaped knife (8') as to always remain in contact with each other during the movement of said knives.

In one form, a selected portion of a record member is detected by a sensing device which generates a signal which is applied to a code generating and control device which operates thereafter to control the operation of one or more radiation generators, such as laser or electron beam generating devices, in a manner to generate a series of energy pulses which are directed at the record member or object and serve to burn, discolor or otherwise record pulse codes along one or more tracks of the objects. The objects coded may comprise flat cards, envelopes, record strips, containers or otherwise shaped articles of manufacture. In a particular form, cards, other devices or coatings are attached to objects and are coded by automatic beam pulsing means for identifying such objects.

摘要： Plastic web advancing apparatus for thermoforming equipment wherein the plastic web is indexed by being pulled between a three-roller arrangement located on the downstream side of a forming press. The rollers are driven by a stepping motor for intermittent indexing of the web through the press. Upstream of the forming press, the web is threadedly received between a pair of relatively movable clamping rollers which upon cyclical opening of the forming press are used to tension and feed the web in conjunction with the three-roller arrangement on the downstream end of the press. Upon closing of the press, the upstream clamping rollers are moved away from each other to release the web, enabling the web to shift and diagonally position its edges in alignment with the forming dies in the press.

摘要： An automotive vehicle headliner is formed from a flat strip having laminated layers of resilient, cellular, foamed plastic and a finish textile material. The strip is cut to form a flat blank which is heated to a temperature at which the foamed plastic loses its resilience. While in its heated state the blank is compressively deformed and simultaneously trimmed in a mold to the desired size and contour and the cells adjacent the marginal edge of the blank are reduced in size to reduce the wall thickness of the blank. The deformed and trimmed blank is cooled while the compressive air force is maintained.

摘要： Three-dimensional work pieces, such as instrument panels or dashboards, are made of initially flat stock or of synthetic material such as a two-component foamable material. The tools of the present apparatus include upper and lower holding tools which are preferably simultaneously shaping tools, and cutting or trimming tools. The upper tools and the cutting or trimming tools may have a common support which is preferably exchangeably secured in a main frame. The shaping tools are moved into a first cooperating position relative to each other, whereby the work piece is formed into the desired shape. The shaping tools may then be locked in the shaping position or they may be moved into a second cooperating position to be rigidly locked in the second position. A tool support such as a table carried by a scissors lift frame is used for moving the shaping tools into the desired positions. The cutting or trimming is then performed by applying pressure to the respective tools. A curing time may be provided between the forming step and the cutting or trimming step.
