    摘要: A pneumatic tire having at least two belt plies provided radially outwardly of a carcass ply in the tread. A belt cover ply is disposed radially outwardly of the at least two belt plies. The belt cover ply has reinforcing cords that extend in the circumferential direction of the tire and is covered with coating rubber. The belt cover ply extends beyond the edges of one of the at least two belt plies having a maximum belt width to have extension portions that extend at least 10 mm axially of the tire therefrom. The coating rubber of at least the extension portions of the belt cover ply is formed of rubber having a tan delta at a temperature of 60.degree. C. that is equal to or less than 0.1, and the ratio h/SH of a tire radial-direction length h between the edges of the extension portions and the edges of the belt ply having the maximum belt width to the tire section height SH is equal to or less than 1.5/100.

    摘要: A pneumatic tire includes two or more carcass layers for reinforcing between a pair of annular beads, and a reinforcing layer having a cord arranged on an outer peripheral surface of the carcass layer below a tread surface in a circumferential direction of a tire. The pneumatic tire has a flattening of 70% or less. The cord constituting the carcass layers are arranged substantially in a radial direction in a region of the tire from the bead to a position near a tire maximum width, and from that position to a grounding end. The angle with respect to a circumferential direction of the tire is gradually changed between 20° and 60° in the vicinity of the grounding end, and between 20° and 50° at the tread surface.

    摘要: A method of fitting a tire for an off road motorcycle. The diameter of the rim of a rear wheel (12) is one inch smaller than the diameter of the rim of a front wheel (18). Further, at least a tire (24) of the rear wheel is substantially a tire having a radial carcass with an aspect ratio of less than or equal to 80% and has at least one spiral belt. By providing a one-inch difference between the diameter of the rim of the rear wheel (12) and the diameter of the rim of the front wheel (18), the basic characteristics of the motorcycle can be maintained with the outer diameter of the rear wheel (12) being substantially the same as that of a conventional rear wheel, and the aspect ratio of the rear wheel tire (24) can further be reduced to 80 to 70%. Further, a so-called spiral belt is combined in conjunction with the radial construction employed for the rear wheel tire (24) so as to moderately suppress the rigidity of the tread portion. Accordingly, off road traction can be improved from the viewpoints of the configuration and the construction of the tire, and with this improvement, cushion characteristics can be maintained by means of the radial carcass and the spiral belt.
