    摘要: A deoxidizing agent for molten steel, which is an alloy of aluminum and at least 2 mole %, based on the aluminum, of an element of Group IIIa of the periodic table. In steel which has been deoxidized with this deoxidizer, an oxide inclusion based on the deoxidizer is not dendritic but spherical, and does not cause defects to steel products. Misch metal is especially preferred as the Group IIIa metal.

    摘要: In an injection-metallurgical process performed in a ladle, lime is injected during a first phase after the deoxidation, removing the main part of the sulphur existing in the melt. During a second phase thereafter calcium-silicon, calcium-carbide or calcium-cyanamide is injected, which has a devised impact upon the morphology of the remaining inclusions. At the same time the flowability of the steel is improved, which is particularly important in the production of deep-drawing steels.

    摘要: The invention relates to a composite wire with a base of cerium and/or rare earths such as mischmetal and intended for insertion into a bath of molten steel so as to de-oxidize and de-sulphurize the steel. When this composite wire is inserted into molten steel, it controls certain inclusions by converting manganese sulphides to sulphides of rare earths, thereby improving the resilience characteristics of the steel. The composite wire is obtained by enclosing the mischmetal wire in a metallic sheath. The diameter of the wire, the thickness of the sheath and the speed of injection are determined in accordance with characteristic curves representing particular proportional relations.

    摘要: A system for desulphurizing molten iron in a two-zone vessel located at the foot of an inclined electromagnetic elevator. The molten metal together with added desulphurizing agent is agitated in the first zone of the vessel to thoroughly disperse the desulphurizing agent in the metal. The metal then passes to the second zone of the vessel where it is maintained in a quiescent state relative to the metal in the first zone, so that the slag floats to the surface of the metal and can be removed. The desulphurized metal is removed from the second zone of the vessel by means of the inclined electromagnetic conveyor.
