    摘要: A roof structure and its components comprises a series of metal panels having flanges that interlock when the panels are laid side by side and which are subsequently tightly seamed together to convert the individual panels into an integrated roof forming membrane. The roof structure may be insulated through the use of a blanket vapor barrier and insulation under the panels preferably along with thermal blocks located over the purlins. The roof structure includes unique flexible panel mounting clips that attach the panels to the purlins in such a way as to permit the panels to expand or contract in response to temperature and pressure changes, thereby minimizing roof stressing.The questions raised in reexamination request No. 90/000,345, filed 03/18/83, have been considered and the results thereof are reflected in this reissue patent which constitutes the reexamination certificate required by 35 U.S.C. 307 as provided in 37 CFR 1.570(e).

    摘要: The present invention is an improved platform-mounted apparatus for holding and rapidly releasing a flexible load line having the properties of a wire rope. The invention comprises wedge gripper means for holding the line up to a tensile force substantially equal to the breaking strength of the line, with the gripper means comprising a grip frame for mounting to the platform and a pair of opposed grip wedges, the wedges having opposed internal gripping surfaces for engaging the line and external wedging surfaces that taper toward each other in the direction of the tensile force in a gripped line, each grip wedge having a wide end and a narrow end. Grip connection means connect the wide end of each grip wedge to the grip frame, said grip connection means defining a lower travel limit for each grip wedge in the direction of the tensile force in a gripped line. A grip body has opposed seating surfaces against which the external wedging surfaces of the grip wedges moveably bear, said seating surfaces tapering toward each other at substantially the same angle as the external wedging surfaces, such that motion of the grip wedges into the taper of the seating surfaces causes the opposed grip wedges to wedge together to engage the line and motion out of the taper of the seating surfaces causes release of the line. Release means connected to the pair of grip wedges and the grip body positively move the grip body relative to the grip wedges to cause line release. When the wedge gripper means is combined with a winch means for mounting to a platform, with the winch means having the ability to draw in and hold the line up to a tensile force less than the breaking strength of the line, the combined apparatus can draw in, hold, pay out and rapidly release a mooring line.

    摘要: A two axis numerically controlled contour boring machine adapted for interior and exterior machining operations such as boring, facing, grooving, turning and back-facing. The machine comprises a headstock slidably driven along a first axis by a feed motor. The headstock supports a rotatable contouring head having a radial slide which is driven along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The radial slide is spindle actuated and includes adjustment means for removing backlash in the drive. The radial slide is adapted to hold quick disconnect type tools selected for the particular machining operation or operations called for by the machining program. The desired contours are generated in the workpiece by the combined motion of the headstock and radial slide along their respective axes under numerical control.

    摘要: An adaptive control for a turning machine which adjusts the machining rate to maintain the actual horsepower dissipated at the cutter tip at a constant set point despite changing workpiece and cutter parameters. The machining rate is adjusted by control of the machine drive and tool feed to achieve required SFM and IPR values, respectively, within maximum and minimum SFM and IPR limits. "Speed" and "Axis" override controls are also provided. The rate of adjustment of SFM and IPR to a deviation of the cutter tip horsepower from the set point is inversely proportional to the measured system gain so that the response factor of the control loop is maximized. The cutter tip horsepower is determined by subtracting the electrical loss, mechanical friction loss, and the net power required for net acceleration of the drive, from the measured electrical power supplied to the drive motor. The cutting efficiency is monitored to perform tool wear, tool breakage, and tool protection functions. The adaptive control also has soft engagement and soft disengagement functions for initiating and terminating the adaptive machining process.

    摘要: An improved collapsible fixture for fabrication of tunnel modules and tunnel sections for building underwater tunnel tubes is provided. The fixture has a series of shell-like support members along its length, each member having a stationary base portion, two rotatable side portions and a connecting foldable linkage portion. A common truss is connected to each of the foldable linkage portions and is activated by a plurality of hydraulically operated cylinders connected to the wheel core member of the fixture. In order to collapse the fixture, moveable radial spoke members in the shell-like support members are connected to sliding plate members which are moveably attached to hub plates on the wheel core member.

    摘要: A dynamically compensating counterbalance enables a numerically controlled contouring head to maintain proper balance through large slide travels, cutting tool radial travels, and weight changes in the cutting tool at high speeds. A counterweight within the contouring head moves oppositely to the slide direction by means of a pair of interconnected fluid cylinders. Slide reciprocation under numerical control pumps the first cylinder to slave the second cylinder and the counterweight connected thereto. The counterweight is of a high density material, thereby enabling the counterweight to have lesser and proportional travel than the corresponding slide travel while maintaining proper counterbalance. Proportional slide and counterweight travels are accomplished by employing cylinders of an unequal areas. The invention includes a servo operated third cylinder in fluid communication with the first and second cylinders. The servo control senses certain imbalances and strokes the third cylinder to alter the fluid in the counterweight cylinder, thereby causing displacement of the counterweight without corresponding displacement of the slide, which remains under numerical control.

    摘要: A general safe retract and return function is provided for a machine tool which is easily programmed for all cases to avoid collision and interference between the workpiece and tool and to reduce the damage or imperfection in the surface of the machined workpiece caused by the termination and/or resumption of machining. The general safe retract and return function includes parameters defining incremental retract and entry vectors relative to the direction of the machining path in the region of the interrupted point. Preferably the tool and workpiece are reengaged at the interrupted point along an entry ventor which is at a grazing angle with respect to the reverse of the tool feed direction along the machining path, thereby avoiding remachining of the workpieces but providing a smooth surface finish. Preferably the general safe retract and return function interprets programmer specified conditional expressions to determine when logical jumps should be performed to disengage the tool and workpiece and execute respective user-defined interrupt subroutines for corrective action. Preferably the logical jump for certain limit conditions or trigger signals is conditional based upon the engagement and disengagement of the tool and workpiece as specified by rapid traverse and feed rate moves, beginning and ending distances for the feed rate moves, and the depth of cut at the beginning and ending points of the feed rate moves.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for covering the ridge or peak of a metal roof system is disclosed. After the metal roofing panels are set in place on the sloping surfaces of the roof and seamed together, mating halves of a ridge panel are positioned along the ridge and parallel thereto. The mating halves have cut-outs corresponding to the rib seams of the roofing panels, the cut-outs each being covered by a seam cap. After the ridge panel halves are secured to the roofing panels, the interlocking joint between them is folded over and permanently seamed together. Finally, the areas at the ends of the ridge adjacent the rakes of the building are covered by filler panels. The filler panels have cut-outs corresponding to the rib seam of the ridge panel, and the cut-outs are similarly covered by seam caps.
