摘要: A readhead for illuminating a sample carrier and receiving light from the sample carrier, including a housing for receiving a sample carrier, an array of light sources mounted within the housing in a fixed position relative to the sample carrier, and including first and second light-emitting diodes for emitting substantially monochromatic light of a two different wavelengths, a light guide mounted in the housing between the light-emitting diodes and the sample carrier, and a light detector coupled to receive light from the sample carrier. The readhead also includes a light source for directing excitation light of a predetermined wavelength to the sample carrier, and a light filter positioned between the sample carrier and the light detector and adapted to prevent passage therethrough of the excitation light. The readhead allows both fluorescence spectroscopy and reflectance spectroscopy to be conducted on the sample carrier.

摘要: A plunger for use with a syringe has a plunger body with a proximal end, a distal end, and a circumferential sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end along a plunger longitudinal axis. The plunger further has at least one resiliently deflectable retaining member having a first segment attached to the plunger body and a second segment protruding toward the distal end of the plunger body and deflectable relative to the first segment. The plunger further has at least one actuation member associated with the at least one resiliently deflectable retaining member. The at least one actuation member interacts with a piston to deflect the at least one resiliently deflectable retaining member upon rotation of the plunger relative to the piston. The plunger is engageable with the piston regardless of a rotational orientation of the piston relative to the plunger.

摘要: Provided are topical analgesic compositions and methods of preparing topical analgesic compositions comprising a stable nano-encapsulating matrix film. The topical analgesic compositions and methods of preparing topical analgesic compositions may be suited for roll-on applicators. Topical analgesic compositions may include 12 to 16 wt. % menthol; 4 to 8 wt. % camphor; 2 to 15 wt. % film-forming polymer; and 50 to 70 wt. % solvent. To be used in a roll-on applicator, the topical analgesic composition has a viscosity from 800 to 1400 centipoise.

摘要: Described are systems and methods for assessing a likelihood of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) within a subject patient based upon an analysis of characteristics indicative of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension within an imaging study of the subject patient. The systems and methods can identify characteristics of one or more anatomical structures within a cardiac region of the subject patient indicative of CTEPH, characteristics of a pulmonary vasculature of the subject patient indicative of CTEPH, and characteristics of a chronic abnormality in a lung of the subject patient indicative of CTEPH. The systems and methods can assess these characteristics to compute the likelihood of CTEPH within the subject patient.

摘要: A syringe includes a barrel having a proximal end, a distal end, and a sidewall extending substantially circumferentially between the proximal end and the distal end along a longitudinal axis. The barrel is formed from an injection molding process including aligning a mold die defining an internal shape of the barrel in a molding cavity defining an external shape of the barrel, the molding cavity defined by first and second mold sections. Each mold section includes at least one gate adapted to control the flow of a molding material into the molding cavity. The gates of each mold section are opened to permit the first and second melt streams of molding material to fill the molding cavity surrounding the mold die, where the molding material takes the shape of the molding cavity.
