    摘要: An idle speed control system for controlling the idle speed of an internal combustion engine, to conserve fuel by allowing a lowered idle speed, whenever possible, as well as offering more than normal power when needed, is disclosed. This idle speed control system includes an actuator for moving a secondary idle stop member into operative position, having both a vacuum-operated section and a solenoid section for maintaining the actuator in operative position, regardless of the state of the vacuum-operated portion. The idle speed control system further includes a control circuit responsive to engine speed which applies an output signal to the vacuum-operated section of the actuator when engine speed falls below a predetermined minimum, maintains it for a predetermined period of time, momentarily removes it to determine if the engine is presently capable of idling above the predetermined minimum speed, and reapplies the output signal if engine speed then dips below the predetermined minimum speed. Once applied, the output signal is removed either by the timer function, or when engine speed increases above the predetermined maximum idle speed. The control circuit also provides a signal to the solenoid portion of the actuator, in response to predetermined major accessory loads which may be imposed upon the engine in a vehicle.

    摘要: A structure for trapping hazardous dust in a work place which also serves as a walkway is disclosed. A removable cover member (12) includes a frame and a central support member (18), the frame and central support member (18) being covered with expanded metal mesh (22). The cover rests upon a shallow pan (10), the pan (10) having a raised central ridge (28) which is aligned with the central support member (18) in the cover (12) when the cover (12) is placed on the pan (10). The central support member (18) and the central raised ridge (28) cooporate to limit the deflection of the expanded metal mesh (22) under the weight of a user. The lower pan (10) is provided with a hook (34), for engaging other similar pans (10) for assembling a walkway or other desired configuration of dust collecting pans. The pan may be filled with a non-evaporating liquid to permanentaly retain dust falling into the pan, and also dust being scraped from the shoes of a user by the expanded metal mesh.

    摘要: Means are disclosed for dissipating supercharge pressure in a hydraulic system including a reversible pump (18) directly connected to a hydraulic cylinder (22). Supercharge pressure results from unequal areas on either side of a piston (24) of a single-ended hydraulic cylinder (22). When the piston moves towards the blind end of the cylinder (22), more fluid is displaced from the cylinder than is admitted to the cylinder on the opposite side of the piston. Means responsive to a pressure at a first port (82) of the pump (18) opens a passage between the second port (76) of the pump (18) and a fluid reservoir (16), allowing fluid in excess of the pump's intake requirements to pass to the reservoir (16). In a first embodiment of the invention, a rocker mechanism (60) is actuated by a piston (66) responsive to pressure at the first port (82) pressing against a first end (20) of the rocker mechanism (60), the second end (74) of the rocker mechanism (60) displacing a check ball (38) of a keep-full valve. In a second embodiment of the invention, passages (126, 128) are provided in a pilot piston (106) for pilot-operated check valves (42, 44), so that when the piston (106), in response to pressure at the first port (82), opens a check valve (42), to allow fluid to return from the cylinder (22), passages (126, 128) in the piston (106), opening upon the face (129) of the pilot piston (106) adjacent the check valve, become aligned with a passage (130) to the reservoir (16), allowing excess or supercharge oil to flow to the reservoir (16).

    摘要: A dynamoelectric machine (1), having brushes which contact an armature contact surface such as commutator (6) or slip rings, is provided with a plurality of independent, individually removable brush holders (10, 100). Each brush holder is provided with either a removable pin (102) to allow brushes to contact the armature contact surface after the brush holder (10, 100) has been installed, or with a clamping bolt (40), retaining brushes (8) in a predetermined position for insertion of the brush holder, and removal of the brush holder, the brush holder being tilted or cocked to avoid contact between it and the armature contact surface. Bolting the brush holder (10, 100) into place makes electrical contact between the dynamoelectric machine and the brush holder by means of an insulated, conductive threaded aperture (34) on the exterior service of the machine, a mounting bolt (24) inserted into this aperture (34) urging a conductive portion (20) of the brush holder into electrical contact. The brush holder (10, 100) may be further provided with a rotatable spring support (212) for varying the pressure exerted on the brushes, and a measuring scale (216) for correlating the length of partially worn brush with an angular position of the spring support, to facilitate adjustment of brush pressure as brushes wear. Angular adjustment of the position of the spring support may also serve to lift certain types of brushes into a retracted position. The disclosed brush pressure adjustment structure is also usable with non-removable brush holders.

A plural turn winding is free formed or wound in place to substantially a final shape with two ends spaced for connection to commutator segments spaced substantially 180.degree. apart on the armature and with at least four sides defining at least two open turns. The winding sides are spaced for engaging slots in the armature core which are spaced substantially 90.degree. apart. The winding is initially free formed and the turns are separated as necessary to insert the winding on the core and to position the winding sides in their assigned slots in the armature core.

    摘要: A connector-terminal assembly for passing electrical current through a furnace firewall. A one piece insulator fits through a hole in the firewall and is braced to the firewall by a single retainer clip. A connector suitable for high temperature use is slideably mounted in a hole centrally through the insulator and retained therein by the electrical terminals on either end thereof. The insulator is mounted in the firewall independently of the connector mounting in the insulator, and vice versa. The insulator is mounted to the firewall free of compressive stress along the connector axis and the connector is mounted in the insulator free of tensile stress along its axis to allow for heat expansion of both components.
