    摘要: The invention relates to a gear extruder for plasticizing and homogenizing rubber mixtures, having at least two gears disposed in chambers in the extruder housing, with the teeth of the gears meshing with one another, and having a port for feeding the rubber mixture to the front of the gears in the extruder housing. The invention is characterized in that gas vent ports are provided in the extruder housing, at the ends of the teeth of the gears, in an area in which the teeth disengage, and/or that at the entrance side of the teeth filled with the rubber mixture. The gas vent ports are provided in the extruder housing in one embodiment so that they extend on the entrance side over no more than half of the circumference of the chambers. By such an arrangement of gas vent ports it has become possible to ventilate a rubber mixture such that volatile components and moisture contained therein can be outgassed, but the rubber mixture is unable to enter the gas vent ports and clog them.

    摘要: An apparatus for treating molten material wherein a gas is present during such treatment either by being removed from the molten material or by being added thereto. The apparatus comprises a housing having a continuous spindle or a pair of spindles disposed therein. The continuous spindle is externally threaded at least in its end regions, and the pair of spindles is externally threaded. A plurality of planet spindles are dispoed circumferentially around the spindle are spindles. The planet spindles are also threaded and intermesh with one another as well as with the spindle or spindles. Furthermore, the internal wall of the housing is threaded and intermeshes with the threaded planet spindles. A treatment chamber is defined within the housing and the planet spindles define a wall surface of such chamber. The intermeshing components produce thin layers of the molten material which is carried, by the planet spindles, into the treatment chamber. Since the material is in this form, gas can readily be removed therefrom by connecting the chamber to a vacuum source or added thereto by connecting the chamber to a gas source.

    摘要: In an extrusion device of the type which has a screw rotating in a housing and which has a feed section in which a feed roller, cooperating with the screw, is provided, a stripper blade is used to remove the fed material from the feed roller. The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for maintaining the net force acting on the stripper blade to direct it towards the feed roller constant. To achieve this, the force of the fed material which acts in a direction tending to move the feed roller and the extrusion screw apart is measured. An opposing force is applied to the stripper blade in dependence upon the magnitude of the measured force. By so doing, the net force directing the stripper blade towards the feed roller is maintained constant.

    摘要: An apparatus for reducing wastage during the start-up phase of extrusion device used to produce extruded profiles such as tread strips for vehicle tires from a plurality of mixtures. Each of a plurality of extruders extrudes one component of the profile and is provided with its own drive motor. The outlets from the extruders communicate with a template member having flow channels formed therein which communicate with the outlet ends of the extruders and which lead into a common extrusion port. Pressure sensors are positioned adjacent to the outlet of each extruder. These pressure sensors and the drive motors for each extruder are operatively connected to a control device which has stored therein predetermined desired pressure levels for each extruder. The drive motors for the several extruders are actuated and the pressure of each is monitored and compared with the predetermined desired pressure for each extruder. When the pressure in a particular extruder reaches such desired pressure, the drive motor for that extruder is shut off. When the desired pressures have been reached in all of the extruders, the drive motor for all extruders are re-actuated simultaneously by the control device. Alternatively, the last extruder to reach the desired pressure can continue to operate and the drive motors for the other extruders re-actuated. In either event, wastage of material is greatly reduced.

    摘要: A pin-barrel extrusion device having a barrel temperature control means between the outer and inner hollow cylinders of the barrel and an apparatus for adjusting the radial depth of penetration of the pins into the inner hollow cylinder is disclosed in which problems due to different rates of thermal expansion of the cylinders in the axial direction are obviated or at least minimized. This is achieved by locating the pins in guide sleeves, which sleeves are detachably mounted in a bore formed in the inner cylinder and pass through aligned bores in the outer cylinder. The outer cylinder bores have a diameter larger than that of the sleeves so that an annular gap is defined between the bores and the cylinder. This provides room for movement of the sleeve if the inner cylinder on which it is mounted expands at a different rate to that of the outer cylinder.
