A seal ring is provided which allows the interior of a cylinder 1 of a screw extruder to be maintained at elevated temperature and elevated pressure, thus suppressing a variation in the pressure in the cylinder 1. In a special seal ring 300 attached to a screw shaft 7 in the cylinder of the screw extruder so as to be rotatable integrally with the screw shaft 7, thus restraining a material to be treated from being fed from upstream to downstream in the cylinder, a lead groove 317 extending in an axial direction of the shaft 7 is formed in an outer circumferential surface 316 opposing with a predetermined gap to an inner circumferential surface 1a of the cylinder. The lead groove 317 serves to disturb the flow of the material to be treated passing between the outer circumferential surface 316 and the inner wall surface 1a of the cylinder 1 to complex the flow. This stabilizes feeding resistance to suppress a variation in the pressure in the cylinder 1.

The screw includes a core extending from a sealing end to a nose cone end. At least one flight extends radially from the core in a quasi-helical pattern, wherein flights adjacent one another form channels therebetween. A plurality of elongate lugs extend radially from the core and are disposed in the channels. The shape as well as the number of lugs can be varied to ensure the requirements for a thorough and turbulent deflection and mixing of the material stream.

A set of spaces having specific shape is used, and the volume of the spaces can increase and decrease periodically, and the materials flow into the spaces when the volume is increasing; and are pressed, plasticated and discharged when the volume is decreasing, so that the plasticating and conveying process is mainly under normal stress. A vane-type plasticating and conveying unit mainly comprises a cylindrical hollow stator; a columned rotor eccentrically installed in the inner cavity of the stator, wherein a group of rectangular slots are formed along the circumference of the rotor; a plurality of vanes which are arranged evenly in the slots and baffles mounted on the two sides of the stator. The inner surface of the stator, the outer surface of the rotor, the two vanes, and the two baffles surround to form the spaces having specific shape. The vane-type plasticating and conveying unit and various screw-type extruding unit or various plunger-injection unit can be combined to form a vane-type plasticating and injection device of an extruder or injection machine. The present invention is of short material thermo-mechanical history, low energy consumption, wide adaptability, and small volume.

A method for producing an environment protective foamed thermoplastic resin polymer comprises using an extruder with a helical rod to be driven to rotate. The extruder has a feeding section, a melting section, a mixing section and a heating-shaping section formed therein. The method includes a plurality of steps, in which thermoplastic resin is heated, melted in the melting section and moved into the mixing section, and hollow expansion balls are fed into the extruder to be evenly mixed with the melted thermoplastic resin. Then the hollow expansion balls are slightly heated and inflated, and moved into the heating-shaping section, and then the balls are heated at foaming temperature, foamed and inflated. After being injected through a nozzle, the melted thermoplastic resin and the hollow balls become a foamed thermoplastic resin polymer with a preset thickness and shape.
