摘要： A magnetic compass in which the compass card and magnet are relatively movable with respect to each other such that only the magnet is gimballed to seek alignment with the earth''s magnetic field irrespective of the inclination of the compass card. The compass magnet is rotatably mounted within a gimbal assembly and is operative to become aligned with the axis of the earth''s magnetic field to seek the dip angle of the magnetic field while providing a rotational torque to cause rotation of the compass card to its balanced position indicative of compass heading. In alternative implementation, the compass magnet is maintained in substantially horizontal disposition to enhance the restoring torque.

摘要： Apparatus for converting the energy of surface waves in a liquid such as an ocean, comprising a buoyant helical member mounted for rotation about an axis. The pitch of the helical member approximates the length of the expected waves and the member is floated on the surface with its axis oriented so that each wave traverses the helix lengthwise and buoyantly supports successive sections thereof causing it to rotate about its axis. The helix is coupled with rotary driven means such as an electrical generator.

摘要： Apparatus for converting the energy of surface waves in a liquid such as an ocean, comprising an array of buoyant helical members each mounted for rotation about an axis. The pitch of the helical members equals or is greater than the length of the expected waves and the members are floated on the surface with their axes oriented so that wave length of the waves matches the pitch of the helices times the cosine of the angle between the helical axes and the direction of wave propagation. In one embodiment the array is a large chevron formed of two groups of helical members and is pivotable about the apex of the chevron. In another embodiment the helical members are arranged in zig-zag fashion. Means are provided for adjusting the angles between the arms of the chevron in the one case, and the adjacent arms of the zig-zag in the other case.

摘要： Apparatus for the separation of meat from the bones of fowl or other animals or animal parts. One or more drums are arranged for rotation about an axis removed from the drum to provide an intended centrifugal force to fowl introduced therein. The drum or drums are also rotatable about their own respective axes to provide a constantly changing outer-lying wall surface for engagement with the fowl. The drum walls are formed of a grid of cutting edges for separating meat from the bone and whose interstices form apertures through which the separated meat is removed from the drum by action of centrifugal force. A method for removing meat from animal bones comprising the steps of; moving a grid of cutting elements in a closed path about its axis; revolving the grid about an axis; revolving the grid about an axis removed from the grid axis; supplying meatcontaining bone to the grid; removing meat from an outer portion of the grid; and removing bone from an inner portion of the grid.

摘要： An angle encoder for selectively providing from a single rotatable code element an output indication of the angular position of the rotatable element and of angular deviation and sense with respect to a reference position. A Gray coded code element is employed and from which a Gray code is sensed to provide digital signals which are processed by associated logic circuitry operative in two modes. In one mode an output indication is provided of the angular position of the code element, while in a second mode an output indication is provided of the extent and sense of angular deviation of the code element.
