摘要: A family of structurally related proteins has been found to have enzymatic activity. The protein family may comprise DUF1874 proteins. Members of this family can be used to modulate the structure, function and/or activity of a cellular signalling molecule that is associated with a cellular antiviral response. In particular, the proteins described herein exhibit an ability to modulate the function, structure and/or activity of cyclic oligoadenylate (cOA); that is to say they can be used to inhibit, destroy, ablate and/or breakdown cOA activity, structure and/or function. The disclosed proteins (all of which belong to the DUF1874 protein family) are generally referred to as “ring nucleases”.

摘要: A method for use in imaging an object through a scattering medium comprises illuminating the object sequentially point-by-point through the scattering medium with incident electromagnetic radiation propagating along an illumination direction so that the incident electromagnetic radiation interacts with the object to cause the object to generate and emit electromagnetic radiation, wherein the incident electromagnetic radiation is formed by spectrally dispersing initial electromagnetic radiation in a direction transverse to the illumination direction so as to form spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation and by spatially focusing the spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation through the scattering medium to the object. The method comprises measuring, for each illuminated point of the object, a corresponding value representative of a quantity of at least a portion of the corresponding emitted electromagnetic radiation and using, for each illuminated point of the object, position information for the illuminated point and the corresponding measured value to determine an image of the object.

摘要: A method for use in light-sheet imaging of an object through a scattering medium comprises illuminating the object through the scattering medium with incident electromagnetic radiation propagating along an illumination axis so that the incident electromagnetic radiation interacts with the object to cause the object to generate and emit electromagnetic radiation. The incident electromagnetic radiation is formed by spectrally dispersing initial electromagnetic radiation in a direction transverse to the illumination axis so as to form spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation and by spatially focusing the spectrally dispersed electromagnetic radiation through the scattering medium to the object. The method comprises forming an image of at least a portion of the emitted electromagnetic radiation propagating along a detection axis, wherein the detection axis and the illumination axis are non-collinear, and sensing the formed image. The object and/or the scattering medium may comprise biological material, for example human or animal tissue. The method may be used for light-sheet imaging in vivo or in vitro. A system for use in light-sheet imaging of an object through a scattering medium is configured to perform the method.

摘要: Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence (TADF) compounds wherein two aromatic heterocyclic moieties are provided as acceptor groups, spaced apart from two donor moieties by an aromatic spacer ring, are described. Charged organic TADF species having a similar structure are also described. The TADF compounds and charged organic TADF species may be employed as emitter material in light emitting devices such as OLEDs and LEECs. Also described TADF compounds wherein at least one donor moiety is substituted by at least one substituent that is a phosphine oxide or a phosphine sulphide.

摘要: A light sheet imaging system comprises an acoustic trapping arrangement for forming an acoustic trap using one or more acoustic beams and an optical system for light sheet imaging a sample positioned in the acoustic trap. A light sheet imaging method comprises forming an acoustic trap using one or more acoustic beams and light sheet imaging a sample positioned in the acoustic trap. The system and/or the method may be used for light sheet microscopy using acoustic trapping for the contactless confinement of a sample to be imaged such as a particle, a colloid, a cell, a conglomerate of cells (e.g. a cell biopsy), an embryo, a larva or an organism such as a complex organism or a plurality of such samples.
