摘要: A method and system are disclosed for use in imaging a sample. The method comprises illuminating a sample through a scattering medium, or illuminating a sub-surface region of the sample through a scattering surface region of the sample, with a plurality of spatial patterns of incident electromagnetic radiation, wherein each spatial pattern of incident electromagnetic radiation interacts with the sample, or the sub-surface region of the sample, to generate electromagnetic radiation in the sample or the sub-surface region of the sample. The method comprises measuring, for each spatial pattern of incident electromagnetic radiation, a corresponding value representative of a quantity of at least a portion of the emitted electromagnetic radiation and using the plurality of spatial patterns of incident electromagnetic radiation and the plurality of corresponding measured values to determine an image of the sample, or an image of the sub-surface region of the sample, without using a spatial distribution of the emitted electromagnetic radiation.

摘要: A light sheet imaging system, such as a light sheet microscope, comprises an illumination arrangement for generating a light sheet for three-photon excitation of a fluorescent sample, and a fluorescence collection arrangement for collecting fluorescence generated in the sample as a result of three-photon excitation by the light sheet. The light sheet may be a non-diffractive, propagation-invariant light sheet. The light sheet may be formed from and/or comprise a Bessel beam. A method of light sheet imaging comprises using a light sheet for three-photon excitation of a fluorescent sample, and collecting fluorescence generated in the sample as a result of three-photon excitation of the sample by the light sheet. Such a method may be used for light sheet microscopy.

摘要: A method of minimizing cross-talk between optical modes propagating in a multi-mode optical fiber, comprises superimposing a plurality of optical wavefunctions; determining a relationship between superpositions of at least some of the optical wavefunctions and at least one measure of orthogonality of the optical modes at an output of the multi-mode optical fiber; and identifying a superposition of at least some of the optical wavefunctions that provides a desired or optimized value of the at least one measure of orthogonality using the determined relationship. The method further comprises generating, using light from a laser and at least one optical component, the identified superposition of at least some of the optical wavefunctions that provides the desired or optimized value of the at least one measure of orthogonality.
