Abstract:
An application program relating to a process of an integrated circuit 21 is stored in a virtual integrated circuit 21 storage area server apparatus 13. Following a mutual authentication between the IC 21 and the virtual IC storage area server apparatus 13 through a portable communication function unit 20, the server apparatus 13 executes the application program. Additionally, through the IC 21, the portable communication function unit 20, a wireless communication line 17, and a network 18, communicate with an IC_R/W apparatus 11 and perform a process relating to a service in collaboration with each other.
Abstract:
A frothing device adaptable to a steam outlet for producing milk froth comprising a steam inlet, a milk inlet, an air inlet, a vacuum chamber adapted to receive steam, liquid milk and air therein, a restriction with a limited cross-section adapted for conducting the product there through at high velocity, an emulsifying chamber; the emulsifying chamber having an outlet for draining the product froth out of the chamber and a froth flow regulation system configured for breaking the kinetic energy of the froth stream and for changing its direction sufficiently so that the froth is gently delivered out of the device. The frothing device can be mounted on a coffee machine to deliver cappuccino upon a push of a button.
Abstract:
Message cells, cell comprising partially different priorities are transmitted via a first communication network. According to the invention, at least one of the message cells to be transmitted and comprising the same priority is added to a user data field of at least one data packet of a second packet-oriented communication network. A transmission priority (user priority) derived from the priority of the at least one added message cell, cell is associated with the data packet, according to which the at least one data packet is at least partially transmitted with the at least one added message cell, cell to/via the packet-oriented communication network. Advantageously, the message cells comprising the same priority or service category and pertaining to different virtual connections are added to a data or transmission frame of the packet-oriented communication network, thus fulfilling real time requirements.
Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating participation by a player in a bonus event of a slot machine. A reel configuration associated with the slot machine is presented, and symbols are presented in each of the active reel segments. At least some of the symbols are discontinue symbols which, if presented in an active reel segment, causes that reel segment to be deactivated, thereby eliminating it from the bonus event. The presentation of symbols and subsequent deactivation of symbols associated with discontinue symbols continues until a predetermined number of the active reel segments have been deactivated.
Abstract:
Information recording and playback apparatus, content management method, and content management program. When data of copyright-protected content is recorded in a general-purpose HDD, illegal copying of the content is prevented. Each time when content is recorded in the HDD and when content recorded in the HDD is moved to a Blu-ray disc (BD), a random number output section outputs unique verification information (a random number) and overwrites the unique verification information in the corresponding verification files of the HDD and an EEPROM. Then, when the content recorded in the HDD is to be moved to the BD, a verification section verifies the verification information (random number) recorded in the verification file of the HDD against the verification information (the random number) recorded in the verification file of the EEPROM, and permits the movement of the associated content only when they match.
Abstract:
A gaming system including a central server linked to a plurality of gaming machines. Upon a suitable triggering event at a triggering gaming device in the gaming system a bonus event occurs. When the bonus event occurs, the players actively playing each auxiliary gaming device in the gaming system are each provided a chance to participate in the bonus event as well. Each remaining gaming device's chance of participating in the bonus event is based on the individual accumulated bonus event pool for that gaming device.
Abstract:
A dispersion compensating optical fiber for NZ-DSFs, includes: an uncovered dispersion compensating optical fiber; a double-layered resin coating disposed around the uncovered dispersion compensating optical fiber; and an outer coating layer having a thickness of 3 to 7 μm, containing silicone in an amount of 1 to 5% by weight, and disposed around the double-layered resin coating. The outer diameter of the uncovered dispersion compensating optical fiber is in a range from 90 to 125 μm, an outer diameter of the dispersion compensating optical fiber is in a range from 180 to 250 μm, and the amount of silicone contained in the outer coating layer is determined such that an adhesive property of the outer coating layer is 1 gf/mm or less.
Abstract:
A system is provided for dispatching one or more packets of information selected from the group consisting of redeemable coupons, messages, appointment reminders, confirmations, tickets, warnings and written packets to potential recipients of said packets at a remote location. The steps included in such a system are: (1) developing a subscriber directory containing unique identification information for each of said potential recipients; (2) creating a packet to be dispatched to at least one of said recipients; (3) identifying the potential recipients for a particular packet; (4) transmitting said packet through a pager network to all of said potential recipients; and (5) receiving and selectively processing and printing only those packets intended to be processed and printed by said appliance.
Abstract:
A secondary cell residual capacity calculation method and a battery pack capable of calculating the secondary cell residual capacity is provided. The calculation method includes detecting a temperature of a plurality of secondary cells; detecting a current and a terminal voltage of the plurality of secondary cells; digitizing temperature, current, and terminal voltage; calculating a cell polarization voltage from the digitized temperature, current and terminal voltage; calculating an original cell voltage from both of the calculated cell polarization voltage and the detected terminal voltage; and calculating a residual capacity rate based on the calculated original cell voltage with reference to a prearranged residual capacity reference data table.
