    摘要: A braking control device performs a steering and/or avoidance possibility determination based on the state of the vehicle to execute automatic vehicle braking when an obstacle in front of the vehicle cannot be avoided by steering and/or braking. The device determines that the obstacle can be avoided by steering when the correlation value between steering avoidance time and relative velocity is smaller than the distance from the vehicle to the obstacle. The steering avoidance time is set to a shorter value when the suspension characteristic is stiffer and the sideways force generated by the front wheels is larger. The steering avoidance time is set successively shorter for low, high, and medium speed travel regions, respectively, to reflect the behavior response characteristic of the vehicle with respect to steering input. The vehicle deceleration that would occur if the driver released the accelerator pedal is considered in the braking avoidance possibility determination.

    摘要: The present invention provides a glass optical waveguide device that comprises silica glass and is usable despite a relatively large refractive index difference between its core layer and cladding layer, and a method of manufacturing such device. This optical waveguide device includes a core layer on or over a substrate and a cladding layer that covers the core layer, wherein the core layer is made of silica glass containing an additive for raising the refractive index, and the relative refractive index difference of the core layer with respect to the cladding layer is at least 2.5%. The method of manufacturing this optical waveguide device includes the steps of placing a substrate over an electrode plate that is connected to a first high-frequency power supply within a vacuum vessel, introducing a raw material gas into the vacuum vessel and generating a plasma within the vacuum vessel with high-frequency power supplied from a second high-frequency power supply, and simultaneously forming an optical waveguide film over the substrate while supplying high-frequency power from the first high-frequency power supply to the electrode plate.

    摘要: A color filter substrate includes a transmissive base; a reflective film that is formed on the base; a plurality of coloring elements having different colors that is formed on the reflective film; and a plurality of banks formed on the reflective film between the plurality of coloring elements. The bank has a transmissive portion and a non-transmissive portion. The coloring elements are formed by jetting out droplets onto deposit regions that are defined by the banks by an inkjet technique. The transmissive portion of the bank exposes the reflective film. A sufficient area is provided for each coloring element, while a sufficient area of the reflective film is exposed.

Formed in a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the casing are a contact part of the casing which makes contact with the scroll type compression mechanism (the electric motor) and a non-contact part of the casing which does not make contact with the scroll type compression mechanism (the electric motor). The non-contact part with respect to the scroll type compression mechanism has a peripheral length different from that of the non-contact part with respect to the electric motor.

The inner peripheral surface of a cylinder chamber is formed on a basis of an envelope curve of the outer peripheral surface of the swing piston obtained at the time of its swing. The outer peripheral surface of the swing piston and the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder chamber are formed in, e.g., an ovoid shape so that as compared to a rotary compressor in which such inner and outer peripheral surfaces are formed in a circular form, a shorter compression cycle and a longer discharge cycle is obtained during movement of the swing piston. As a result, an overcompression loss when a refrigerant is discharged in a swing compressor is reduced.

    摘要: A roof ditch molding structure is provided with a body member having a drainage groove that receives a roof ditch molding which is preferably coupled thereto by a double sided tape formed of thermally cured urethane. The roof ditch molding has a rigid carrier member and a resilient cover member that substantially covers an outer surface of the carrier member. The rigid carrier member has a first transverse free end disposed between first and second vertical portions of the body member, and a second transverse free end disposed between the first transverse free end and the second vertical portion of the body member. The first transverse free end has a step portion extending substantially toward the second vertical portion of the body member. The cover member has first and second lip portions extending from the first and second transverse free ends of the carrier member, respectively, to form seals between the roof ditch molding and the drainage groove.
