    摘要: A communication system that is difficult to jam has a transmitter transmitting successive chirp signals, which start at different initial frequencies and all have the same frequency - time slope. At the transmitter successive selections are made from among the different available chirp signal frequencies in accordance with a predetermined pseudorandom program that is known at the receiving station. The receiver has a chirp matched filter capable of receiving all of the different chirps but, being a distributed filter, it delays the different received chirps by differing amounts depending upon the initial frequency of each chirp. The output of the chirp filter is envelope-detected, and the resulting pulse signal is passed through a time gate that is gated on at a time that is selected in accordance with the predetermined program. The system has advantages for anti-jam communications, multiple-access communications, frequency diversity radio, and coding using multiple frequencies, as examples. The chirp matched filter is conveniently a surface wave device.

    摘要: This invention provides E.M.I. gaskets for electrically shielding and environmentally sealing the space between two surfaces which comprises a metallic electrically conductive deformable structure adapted for forming electrical contact with said surfaces and/or providing electrical shielding in the space between said surfaces; and a gel material for sealing the space between said surfaces having a cone penetration value of about 100 to about 350 (10.sup.-1 mm) and an ultimate elongation of at least 200% and being present in sufficient amount and positioned to provide environmental seal between said surfaces and to provide environmental protection for said metallic structure. The gel may encapsulate the entire metallic structure so that portions of the metallic structure pierces through the gel when the gasket is installed to make electrical contact. Alternatively portions of the metallic structure may extend beyond the surface of the gel and the gel deforms to cover exposed portions of the metallic structure when the gasket is installed. The gasket of this invention provides moisture seal and is resistant to corrosion.

    摘要: Cutting wire for a brick and tile cutting and setting machine is wound on supply spools. A plurality of the supply spools are mounted below the cutting frame of the machine. The supply spools are braked to prevent rotation by inflatable brake hoses. When the hoses are inflated, they push against the spool. The wire from the supply spool extends across the cutting frame to a take up spool. The take up spools are mounted on a shaft for rotation. After a set number of bricks have been processed, the wire is spooled from the supply spool to the take up spool so that new, unworn wire is stretched across the cutting frame. The wire on the supply spools is held in place by a flat spring which prevents the wire from unwinding.

The device includes a laminar PTC element composed of a conductive polymer composition sandwiched between two metal foil electrodes. A first insulating layer which is composed of an electrically insulating flexible material conforms to at least part of the perimeter of the PTC element. The device has low resistance, low capacitance, reduced size, and stable resistance, and can meet power cross testing requirements. In addition, assemblies of electrical devices are provided.
