Abstract:
The invention provides a compact, portable system for protection against the penetration of contaminated air into a protected space. The system includes a gas filter and an air-intake unit. There is also a blower for sucking air through the filter into the protected space. An air exhaust unit is provided with an over-pressure valve. For actuating the blower, a member is provided. With the system as described, at least the filter, the blower and the means for actuating the blower can be removed, stored and reassembled by the user.
Abstract:
A thin film rectangular cuboid stand-up container composed of a first and a second elongated rectangular sheets of a thin film weldable plastic or laminate material, wherein the length of each of the first and second sheets is approximately equal to twice the length of a selected edge of the container plus the width of the other sheet, the first sheet is folded along two transversal lines to form first three panels of the rectangular cuboid container and the second sheet is folded along two transversal lines to form the complementary three panels of the rectangular cuboid container, the first and second sheets are seamed to each other along a welding margin surrounding their entire periphery forming an endless loop of fin like seam band extending along 8 of the 12 cuboid edges.
Abstract:
The invention provides a solid filter body for a filter unit, including a sintered composition of adsorbing materials containing activated carbon having a particle size in the range of from 4 to 100 mesh, and a binder in the form of thermoplastic powder having a particle size in the range of from 10 to 250 mesh, the ratio of binder to adsorbent being less than 25% by weight, and the composition being sintered at a temperature below 250° C. The invention further provides a fluid filter unit including a casing having inlet and outlet openings housing the solid filter body and a method for manufacturing the solid filter body.
Abstract:
The invention provides a flap valve for controlling the air pressure within a protected space defined by walls, the flap valve having a valve flap, articulated at least indirectly to the surface of one of the walls and being subjectable to both a sealing force which forces the valve flap against a valve seat surrounding an opening in the wall surface and to an opening force which lifts the flap off the valve seat. The flap valve has a first position in which the protected space is sealed off from a contaminated environment, and a second position in which air from the protected space is allowed to escape into the environment via the opening, wherein the sealing force is a magnetic attraction between a portion of the surface of the valve flap and the valve seat. A method for controlling the air pressure within a protected space is also provided.

Abstract:
A combined building air-conditioning unit and NBC protection system, containing an enclosed space housing a building air-conditioning unit and further including a plurality of chambers, a first chamber having an ambient air inlet port, one prefilter and a blower for sucking air through the prefilter, a second chamber having a valve including an open and closed state, receiving air from the blower and accommodating a C-detector and a valve actuator responsible, at least indirectly to, and operable by, the C-detector, and a third chamber housing at least one C-filter and a blower for sucking air from the second chamber via the C-filter into the building when the valve is in its closed state. A method for economically controlling air purity within a protected space is also provided.
