    摘要: Authentication methods are used to authenticate, a device1 having an ESN1 (electronic serial number), a device2 having an ESN2, and/or a user of the devices. In one implementation, device1 receives the ESN2 in a near-field signal; derives an authentication result as a function of the ESN1 and ESN2; and sends the authentication result to an authenticator device to use in completing authentication. Authentication is confirmed when the device1 authentication result matches an authentication result independently generated by the authenticator device, which is provisioned with the ESN1 and ESN2. In a second implementation, device1 generates a RAND1 (random number) and sends the RAND1 to device2 over a near-filed link. An authenticator device confirms authentication upon receiving the same RAND1 from both device1 and device2.

    摘要: A radio device requires a tunable transceiver such that the transceiver can be accurately set to a desired frequency. When a signal with known frequency accuracy is being received, an offset detector can determine the frequency offset generated by the transceiver due to improper tuning. An automatic frequency control (AFC) system (100) is comprised of a tunable transceiver, an offset detector (103) and an AFC control processor (105) for utilizing information from the offset detector to reduce the inaccuracy in frequency by tuning the transceiver towards the received signal frequency. The AFC control processor (105) utilizes one of more threshold levels for defining a maximum correction threshold (311) based upon the desired maximum offset correction. These thresholds are used by the AFC control processor (105) to efficiently control the predetermined frequency range of the tunable transceiver (101) for most efficient operation.

    摘要: Before hibernating a computing device (102), system software components (116) are notified of an upcoming hibernation process. The notifications are conveyed through an application program interface (API) (114). At least a portion of the system software components (116) can perform one or more pre-hibernation activities to place that system software component (116) in a ready-to-resume state. Each system software component indicates when it is ready for hibernation. Responsive to receiving the indication from each of the system software components (116), the hibernation process can complete. The completed hibernation process creates a snapshot (122) in nonvolatile memory. The snapshot (122) saves state information (124) for each of the system software components (116). The state information (124) is for the ready-to-resume state of the system software components (116). The computing device (102) can be restored after hibernation using a resume process (130), which reads the state (124) information from the snapshot (122).

    摘要: Applications are provided to communication devices provide flexible operation between default modes of operation and an expanded mode of operation in which both communication devices share capabilities. A purchase order is created for a plurality of communication devices. A determination is made as to whether a collaboration feature is enabled at each device. The collaboration feature being enabled at each device results in additional revenue to the ordering process. If collaboration is enabled at both devices at 306, 312, and then collaboration operation are enabled 316 which allows for predetermined operating features to be registered and additional revenue applied. The communication devices 102, 104 are then automatically linked (via information sharing link 120 using linkage application 140) to share capabilities of the registered features at 320. The resulting order comprises a plurality of communication devices that provided an expanded mode of operation when operating together.
