    摘要: A flatness-measuring roll for detecting flatness defects of a metal strip extending and moving in a strip-travel direction has a roll body having a cylindrical outer surface and a central axis extending generally perpendicular to the strip-travel direction and about which the body is rotatable. A plurality of measuring bars axially spaced along the body, recessed in the body, and having outer faces flush with the body surface are each at least limitedly radially shiftable relative to the body. The bars are angularly elongated, each extend along a plane substantially perpendicular to the roll axis, and each have a constant width measured parallel to the roll axis over generally all of a respective total angular length. At least two respective force-measuring sensors are braced radially between each of the bars and the roll body.

    摘要: A metal strip is gripped by an upstream set of infeed tension rollers and, downstream therefrom in a strip-travel direction, by a downstream set of outfeed tension rollers. These tension rollers are rotated so as to tension the strip between the upstream and downstream sets and move the strip downstream in the strip-travel direction. Between the sets the strip first passes around individually supported relatively rotatable stretch rollers to increase a plastic stretch ratio of the strip, and then through a plurality of straightening rollers to reduce curvature and residual tension of the strip and also to increase the plastic stretch ratio of the strip.

The strip is conducted through a set of brake rollers and a set of pull rollers and the strip is subjected to a stretch-forming or stretch pull operation between the two sets of rollers for stretching the strip in the plastic range, wherein the stretch pull force corresponds to the yield point of the strip material. The strip is subjected between the set of brake rollers and the set of pull rollers only to a stretch-pull which is required for stretching the strip in the plastic range. As a result, transverse elongation during plastic stretching is minimized, so that center troughs no longer occur and, when the strip is longitudinally divided, the strip portions no longer have unequal side lengths.

    摘要: A thin metal strip is made by hot-rolling a strip workpiece, stretch-bend leveling the hot-rolled strip workpiece immediately after hot-rolling it, tensioning the strip workpiece with a predetermined tension while stretch-bend leveling it, and thereafter coiling up the workpiece. In addition the workpiece is rapidly cooled immediately after stretch-bend leveling it and before coiling it up. Thus the workpiece is stretch-bend leveled before it cools so it can be treated while still about 1100.degree. C., at which temperature it is still very plastic. The workpiece can therefore be deformed greatly while under modest tension, so as to produce a very thin product that is very uniform. The tension in the strip merely serves to keep the workpiece looped over as much an arc as possible around the stretch-bending rolls.
