    摘要: In connection with a mobile wireless subnetwork having multiple radio network controllers and multiple radio nodes, a session established for an access terminal is associated with a serving radio network controller. The association is maintained as the access terminal moves from the coverage area of one radio node to the coverage area of another radio node within the same subnetwork. Access channel packets are routed from an access terminal having an existing session to the serving radio network controller by determining the IP address of the serving radio network controller using a session identifier.

    摘要: A proxy is in communication with an internet protocol network and a mobile operator network. The proxy receives first communications from access points via the internet protocol network, transmits content from the first communications to the mobile operator network, receives second communications from the mobile operator network, and transmits content from the second communications to the access points via the internet protocol network. The proxy may perform operations based on the first and second communications received from either the access points, or from the mobile operator network. The operations performed by the proxy may include modifying the communications, saving certain information regarding the communications, performing authentication, encryption, or decryption of the communications, determining a destination for the communications, or sending the communications to a destination.

    摘要: Among other things, a communication system comprising remote units and a controller is described. Each of the remote units comprises one or more radio frequency (RF) units to exchange RF signals with mobile devices. At least some of the RF signals comprise information destined for, or originating from, a mobile device. The controller comprises one or more modems and is connected to an external network. At least one of the modems is a baseband modem and is configured to pass first data corresponding to the information. The at least one of the modems is configured to perform real-time scheduling of the first data corresponding to the information. The controller is separated from the remote units by an intermediate network. The intermediate network comprises a switched Ethernet network over which second data corresponding to the information is carried in frames between the controller and the remote units.

    摘要: A system and device for, and method of, detecting, characterizing, and mitigating deterministic distortion in a communication system. An exemplary communication system includes a digital adaptor for sending octets on to a backbone of a PSTN, which then sends, and potentially distorts the octets, received by a line interface. The line interface converts the octets to baseband signals received by an analog adaptor. Several mechanisms and methods are described in which the analog and digital adaptor cooperate to detect the presence of distortion, in particular, robbed bit signaling, on the communication system. The characterization may then be used to mitigate the effects of the distortion. Several receive constellations are provided, each constructed in view of the transmit constellation and in view of the manner in which the deterministic distortion will distort signals transmitted over the system. The receive constellations differ from the transmit constellation. The analog adaptor uses an appropriate receive constellation based on the type of distortion expected at a given interval. The digital adaptor may similarly include several constellation in view of the same considerations.

    摘要: In a radio access network, multiple radio network controllers are connected to several radio nodes using a network. The interconnected radio network controllers and radio nodes are addressable, and, therefore, each radio network controller can communicate directly with each radio node and visa versa. The radio access network can be configured to avoid active handoffs between radio network controllers by maintaining a traffic channel set up between an access terminal and a radio network controller even as the flow.
