摘要: A method of synthesizing a medium for fast, selective oil-water separation and/or oil absorption comprises providing a toluene solution containing a polymer or a polymer mixture; immersing porous wool-like structure (PW) in the toluene solution for a period of time; and removing the immersed PW from the toluene solution, and heat-treating the immersed PW to obtain the medium comprising polymer-modified PW, wherein the polymer or the polymer mixture is adapted such that the medium is a superwetting material that is superhydrophobic and superoleophilic under water or salty water.

摘要: Description and specifications of a new and distinct cultivar of wine grapevine which originated from a hand-pollinated cross of ‘Seyval Blanc’ (female parent) and ‘Muscat Ottonel’ (male parent) made in 1988. The seedlings fruited in the summer of 1992 in a vineyard near Clarksville, Ark. and one was selected for its potential as a wine grape for utilization in the Mid-South. The original vine was tested as ‘Ark. 2359’. The new cultivar of grapevine is a white wine grape which is adapted to the Mid-South of the United States with good winter hardiness and distinct muscat flavor.

摘要: A capacitor is provided for high temperature systems. The capacitor includes: a substrate formed from silicon carbide material; a dielectric stack layer, including a first layer deposited on the substrate and a second layer deposited on the first layer; a Schottky contact layer deposited on the second layer; and an Ohmic contact layer deposited on the substrate. The first layer is formed with aluminum nitride (AlN) epitaxially, and the second layer is formed with aluminum oxide (Al2O3). AlN and Al2O3 are ultrawide band gap materials, and as a result, they can be use as the dielectric in the capacitor, allowing the capacitance changes to be less than 10% between −250° C. and 600° C., which is very effective for the high temperature systems.

摘要: A cell sensor and methods of using the cell sensor for differentiating types of cells. The cell sensor includes a sensing member having bioscaffolds comprising nanofibers/nanowires of titanate grown on a titanium sheet. The method includes preparing a cell sensor comprising a sensing member having bioscaffolds comprising nanofibers/nanowires of titanate grown on a titanium sheet; incubating the bioscaffolds with cells in an aqueous solution at an incubation temperature for a period of incubation time, wherein the cells in the aqueous solution include at least one of cancer cells, normal cells, stem cells, and neuron cells; and measuring electrical characteristics of the bioscaffolds to determine the types of the cells based on the measured electrical characteristics.

摘要: A method of DNA base-calling from a nanochannel DNA sequencer. The method includes building a reference map and preparing an unknown sequence of DNA prior to the final step of data matching. The reference map includes a series of reference characters, such as numbers, that describe the change in tunneling current of a DNA strand with a known sequence. A DNA strand of unknown sequence is prepared so that the change in electrical measurement can also be described numerically. The section of match between the DNA strand of unknown sequence and the reference map is used to determine the sequence of the DNA strand.
