Abstract: In an embodiment, a filter media support frame for supporting first and second panels of filter media in a spaced apart relation is provided. The filter media support frame includes a first panel support, a second panel support and a connection portion. The first panel support has a first inner side and a first outer side. The second panel support has a second inner side and a second outer side. The second inner side faces the first panel support. The first connection portion hingedly connects to the first panel support by a first hinge portion and hingedly connects to the second panel support by a second hinge portion. Abstract: A filter system and a filter cartridge for use in the filter system is provided. The filter cartridge includes a primary media pack, a precleaner media and a housing engagement member. The primary media pack has an outer perimeter and opposite first and second primary flow faces. The precleaner media has an outer perimeter and opposite first and second precleaner flow faces. The first precleaner flow face extends in a first plane parallel to and adjacent to the first primary flow face of the primary media pack. The second precleaner flow face extends in a second plane non-parallel to the first precleaner flow face and the first plane. The housing engagement member surrounds, at least in part, the primary media pack and surrounds, at least in part, the precleaner media. The housing engagement member includes a seal portion and a seal support portion.

Abstract: A filter cartridge is provided. The filter cartridge includes a pack of filter media having an inlet face and an outlet face. The filter media pack further includes opposite first and second sides and opposite first and second ends. The sides and ends extend transversely between the inlet and outlet faces. The sides also extend transversely between the ends such that each end has an external non-planar, curved or multifaceted geometry. The filter cartridge further includes a pair of end caps located against each end of the filter media pack. Each end cap has an internal surface with a geometry closely matching the geometry of the associated filter media pack end. Further, an adhesive is disposed between the filter media pack and the end caps to secure them together.

Abstract: Filters and filter assemblies including one or more shield elements to protect the filter media of the filters during installation of the filters into a filter housing of the filter assembly are provided. A filter includes first and second media packs, a housing seal system, a handle and a shield element. Filter media packs extend from a first end to a second end in a diverging manner. The first end has a length dimension and a width dimension that extend transversely. A shield element projects over the first and second media packs at the first end a span in the width direction of at least 40% of the width dimension defined by the first and second media packs and projecting a span in the length direction of at least 5% of the length dimension defined by the first end.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for filtering a liquid utilize a filter apparatus including a bypass filter, a full flow filter, and a flow balancing element for dividing a total inlet flow of fluid to the filter apparatus into a bypass portion, passing through the bypass filter, and a full flow portion, passing through the full flow filter. The bypass filter has a lower filtering efficiency than the full flow filter element, so that a venturi tube is not required for causing the bypass portion to pass through the bypass filter. The flow balancing element divides the flow into a desired bypass portion and a desired full flow portion, at a predetermined operating temperature. Below the operating temperature, the bypass portion increases and the full flow portion decreases, the bypass portion becoming greater that the full flow portion at a second predetermined temperature below the operating temperature.

Abstract: An environmentally friendly dual lube venturi filter cartridge which has no metallic components. A plastic centertube having a venturi section supports a bypass filter element on standoffs molded into the centertube. An outer concentric full flow filter element surrounds the bypass filter. The full flow filter is supported on a plastic centertube which creates a gap between it and the bypass filter. A first bypass filter endcap both seals the bypass filter and provides standoffs for allowing full flow oil around the bypass filter. The standoffs thus split the full flow which progresses through the primary filter in two paths, a primary path around the bypass filter and into the centertube, and a bypass path through the secondary filter and the venturi. Plastic upper and lower endcaps carry grooves for simple sealing gaskets, a radial seal gasket on the bottom which seals against both the endcap which carries it and a flange in the housing, and an axial seal gasket at the top.

Abstract: An environmentally friendly acid neutralizing filter cartridge is adapted to be mounted in a cartridge mounting body of an engine oil circuit for filtering particulates and neutralizing acid in oil. The filter cartridge comprises a support housing that comprises substantially no metal parts such that the filter cartridge can be readily incinerated. A full flow particulate filter and a bypass particulate filter are arranged in the support housing. A bed of acid neutralizing particles is contained in the support housing. The housing is configured such that a predetermined primary flow path is defined through the filter cartridge that passes through the full flow particulate filter and bypassing the bed of acid neutralizing particles; and a predetermined bypass path is defined through the filter cartridge that passes, in sequence, through the bed of acid neutralizing particles and the bypass particulate filter.

Abstract: The disclosed filter element is configured for use within a housing of a filter assembly. The filter element includes an obround ring of filter media extending between an upper and lower endcaps and defines a dirty wet fuel region. The upper endcap of the filter element defines an inlet for receiving the dirty wet fuel, which flows into the dirty wet fuel region and radially outward through the filter media. The upper endcap may include an insert to define a flow chamber to distribute fuel into the dirty wet fuel region. A clean wet fuel region is defined outside the filter element and within the housing. After flowing through the inlet and the filter media clean wet fuel fills the clean wet fuel region. A water separator is disposed external to the filter media and defines a clean dry fuel region in communication with an outlet defined by the upper endcap.
