Abstract: A modular filter element frame (10) and a filter element frame assembly (100, 150) are disclosed. The filter element frame (10) has an elongate body (12) with a central bore (14) extending axially through the body. In cross-section the body has at least three smooth-ended lobes (16) that extend radially therefrom. The lobes are angularly spaced about the central bore such that a longitudinally extending channel (18) is formed along the body between adjacent lobes. Each channel has a plurality of longitudinally spaced apertures (20) extending into the central bore. Axially outer ends (24, 28) of the body are adapted to enable axial stacking thereof with like modular filter element frames to cooperatively form a filter element frame assembly (100, 150) with a required axial length. The assembly may receive a filter sleeve such that the sleeve extends at least partially along an outer periphery thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus (1, 1′) for filtering a fluid, in particular a Bernoulli filtering apparatus (1, 1′), comprising: a housing (3, 3′), a plurality of filter elements (55), arranged in the housing (3, 3′), for filtering the fluid, an inlet (5) for admitting fluid to be filtered into the housing (3, 3′), and an outlet (7) for discharging the filtered fluid from the housing (3, 3′). The invention solves the stated problem by providing the housing (3, 3′) with a plurality of housing segments (23) which can be connected to adjacent housing segments (23), and by a filter element (55) being arranged at least partially inside each housing segment (23), and by the housing segments (23) and filter elements (55) together forming a modularly assembled filter module (9). The invention also relates to apparatuses of the kind initially specified which further comprise: at least one housing cover (25) for closing the housing, at least one filter cleaning mechanism (11) for cleaning the filter element (55) of residues from the filtered fluid, and at least one backflushing system (13, 13′) in fluid communication with the filter element (55), for conducting and discharging the residues from the filtered fluid. The invention solves the stated problem by the filter cleaning mechanism (11) being associated with the housing cover (25) and in particular being fixed thereto, and by the backflushing system (13, 13′) being associated with the housing (3, 3′), in particular with housing segments (23).

Abstract: An apparatus and method for filtering a liquid utilize a filter apparatus including a bypass filter, a full flow filter, and a flow balancing element for dividing a total inlet flow of fluid to the filter apparatus into a bypass portion, passing through the bypass filter, and a full flow portion, passing through the full flow filter. The bypass filter has a lower filtering efficiency than the full flow filter element, so that a venturi tube is not required for causing the bypass portion to pass through the bypass filter. The flow balancing element divides the flow into a desired bypass portion and a desired full flow portion, at a predetermined operating temperature. Below the operating temperature, the bypass portion increases and the full flow portion decreases, the bypass portion becoming greater that the full flow portion at a second predetermined temperature below the operating temperature.

The exemplary embodiments described herein disclose a system comprising a filter chamber, having a deck positioned inside to divide it into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The deck may have a plurality of holes to hold filtration elements and also may have a ridge or a skirt or both.
